Question

Well, its a term well used back home in the Valley. I can only presume that its to do with the fact that all the 'pool are scruffs and scallies. Spending most of their time routing around other peoples bins for things to nick. Always dipping into bins... BINDIPPERS!

Someone will probably correct me, but that sounds like a decent explination to me.

:D

I have always assumed it comes from the United fans chanting "In My Liverpool Slums".

They look in the dustbin for something to eat
They find a dead rat and they think it's a treat
In your Liverpool slums......

hang on - bin dippers is a term for pick pocket ie theiving bastards thats what scousers are well known for as well as stabbing mugging and claiming dole <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

I remember reading on another site about a documentary from a fair while back that showed scenes of a large rubbish tip near Liverpool. Every day hoardes of scavenging scousers would come and roam all over it looking for stuff they could use.

That's my understanding anyway. Seeing as I don't post much, feel free to ignore this.
