Well if theads are being deleted regularly then surely post counts will dwindle?

They don't get deleted after a certain time period, they get deleted if the mods find them unacceptable.
As others said, either someone deleted his/her thread. Or a mod deleted someone's thread.
Thread starters can delete their own threads as can mods/admins. There doesn't need to be anything wrong with your posting if the thread is deleted.
Why the obsession with post counts?
People are remembered by the quality they produce not quantity.

I don't care about post counts, it was just something I noticed. If I did care, I'd be on this a hell of a lot more than I am.
