Has anyone from the 'Newbie' forum ever not been allowed to proceed to the full forum? just wondering...

Wrong forum by the way.

Why do you ask?

Is it the usual, the Mods have ruined this place by letting all the muppets in type post?

If so remember that most of the muppets in here were already resident when the newbie forum was instigated 15 moths ago. Since it's inception the newbie forum has seen around 8,700 people through the door. Of those some 4,300 were deleted either as unused accounts or because they were WUMs/banned which means we can no longer view their information. Of the 4,300 or so still on the board in one form or another only 950 or so have made more than 10 posts of whom 120 were banned (along with many more who were deleted during invasions when the banning stick was broken) while only 260 have made it out to the main boards and are still here.

I'd say only 50% of those who post over 10 times in the newbie stand any chance of getting out and even then many will be returned or banned so only 35% or so will remain on the main boards long term.

Wow, good information, seems the newbie forum is working well. I was really just genuinely interested and wasnt going to bitch about anything. Muppet hunting is a good sport of mine so we do need a few of em!.

Keep up the good work!

Less than 3% have made it onto the main boards and are still here.

So that sorts the debate out about the usefulness or otherwise of the newbie.

I once had a little pop at Golden for being a bit heavy with his banning stick and dishing out warnings, but the quality on the redcaf is all the better for it. Anyone who dosn't believe me, should try having a look on some of the forums that do not have a newbie section, there are some real fecking dickheads out there in cyberland, and thankfully, we get most of them filtered out here.
Good job mods, keep it up.

Thanks for that Shane.

Sorry if I sounded a bit defensive zippy, unfortunately most posts that start out asking about Mods and promotions then tend to turn into whinges about us either being too heavy handed or for letting one idiot or another through. We do try to maintain the standard of the site and have previously debated at length the worth of the newbie forum since all we tend to get are complaints from both sides. I have previously stood up for it and will continue to do so as IMO it provides a much needed buffer between this place and the idiots who make so many of the other United forums worthless.

Agree with you there, I think GB's policy is a good one, it stops pillocks coming through who offer very little to the board, no ones askings for posters who'll just post what we want to hear, just posters who are literate, not much to ask.

A few things baffle me though, how come the match day threads are more or less dead these days? In comparison to how they used to be, not sure on that one. Though I appreciate it's no ones fault.

Maybe it's the demand for less-PC related jobs these days that has less people sat on their arse posting on the Caf during the day, but the General doesnt have the banter it used to aswell, again absolutely no ones fault, just a bit strange.

All that said, I still consider it the best place on the net for Football discussion. And I consider myself the best poster! :D

The fecking chat room I suspect. Combined with easier and better streaming vidie/radio, cheaper cable channels etc etc

Not to mention that Golden's "banning raids" is perhaps the best entertainment in that forum.

That, and the rap-battles.
