i,m flying to brussles for the weekend get there tommorow after noon - all i want to know is tell me the names of the decent bars that are worth a visit -do they sell stella -or am i best trying some other lagers, what do the locals drink ?

jupiler and maes are quite nice ... their stella is different than the english stella

feck Jupiler, Maes and Stella. Go for Hoegaarden, Duvel, Chimay or Leffe. They're proper beers (properly strong too) none of that chemical piss they pass off as beer. All the bars will sell them. If you want Irish bars try Wild Geese or James Joyce and others in the old (but being renovated) EU area (Schuman).

Leffe, Westmalle, Delirium, Chimay are all great beers. There's dubbel & tripel (strong or very strong!).

If I were you, i'd hop on a train to Antwerp (35 mins) and go to a cool bar, like Cafe Anvers. There's loads of busy irish bars there as well.
Gent is also a cool town.
Brussels is, quite frankly, unexciting.

thanks i,ll try antwerp and as many beers as possible <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

That is nice. We have that here. Its a white beer, looks cloudy all the time. Very refreshing but very heavy.

Errrr which? ;)

(Hoegaarden I assume? - I don't consider that heavy at all)

Oh Yeah...

daft Twat that I am.

Hoegarden..

Dunno any bars in Brussels ... and there's too many beers here to mention ... and too many to try ;)

Maes is good, better than Jupiler, but Jupiler is what they serve in most bars.

Dozens, hundreds of beer sorts otherwise ... Hoegaarden is not bad no.

oh, and this is in the wrong forum

moving it to the general forum

:)
