Welcome to the fourth and final Quarter Final match of the ODI Goat Draft. Some basic rules to consider while voting:

1) Judge players only on the basis of their ODI records.
2) Base your vote on which team you think is more likely to win an ODI between the two.
3) The poll will remain open for 24 hours after creation.

The XIs:

@NM: 1. Parthiv Patel 2. Abdool Samad 3. Owais Shah 4. Ravi Bopara 5. Ashan Priyanjan 6. Tatenda Taibu 7. Yusuf Pathan 8. Anwar Ali 9. Mark Ealham 10. Roger Harper 11. Jade Dernbach

@Boycott: 1. Robin Uthappa 2. Imran Nazir 3. Faoud Bacchus 4. Duleep Mendis 5. Ricardo Powell 6. Denesh Ramdin 7. Kumar Dharmasena 8. Ashley Giles 9. Brendon Julian 10. Ata-Ur-Rehman 11. Gary Brent

NM:

Batting:

1. Parthiv Patel: Averages 27 as an opener and was solid the few times I saw him. He’s doing well in tests now, but that doesn’t help him in this draft.. At least he’s cocky – I like that in my players

2. Abdool Samad: Averages nearly 30 overall and nearly 40 as an opener. Probably the best opener on show in this game. Can also bowl or keep wicket – a true all rounder!

3. Owais Shah: Averages over 30. In this draft, a top middle order batsman. In real life, he made a living (like most 90s and 2000s batsmen) slaughtering crap Indian bowling to stay in the side. Did decently against good SAFFER and WI attacks though.

4. Ravi Bopara: Averages 33+ at 4. In this draft, a very good middle order bat. I’ve watched him for England for years, and he’s never stood out. Average, but average in a goat draft is top class

5. Ashan Priyanjan: Averages 23. I have no idea who he is, and he’s only played 20 odd games. He isn’t the greatest, but has 50s against Bangladesh and Pakistan

6. Tatenda Taibu: Averages over 29. Honestly a very good test player, and a good-ish one day player. He carried Zimbabwe for many years. In this draft, a top wicket keeper batsmen.

7. Yusuf Pathan: Excellent lower order batsmen to smash while batting first or chase down a target. Very handy bowler too. Happy to have him. He’s won India games in the past. Averages over 27 with the bat

8. Anwar Ali: I bat till 8! Ali averages nearly 30 at a strike rate of 88. Useful.

9. Mark Ealham: Averages 18. Can bat a bit if called upon

10. Roger Harper: Averages 16. Can try and survive if called upon

11. Jade Dernbach: Averages 2. LOL

Bowling:

1. Jade Dernbach (Fast): Averages 40. He’s quick, and that may trouble the other team. He has got Dhoni out thrice, and got other big scalps such as Amla and McCullum. Aside from that I’ve never heard of him. He does have a cool (girl’s) name though

2. Mark Ealham (Medium Pace): Averages 33, and averaged 28 in his peak year. He is unerringly accurate, and keeps the economy down at around 4. He will frustrate the opposition into wickets. Good bowler in this draft.

3. Roger Harper (Off Spin): Averages 34 at an economy under 4. Again, very good for this draft. Will frustrate the opponent into wickets.

4. Yusuf Pathan (Off Spin): decent Part-timer with an average of 41. His job will be to try and keep the runs down

5. Anwar Ali (Fast) / Abdool Samad (Off Break): Ali has got the likes of Kallis, Dilshan, Matthews, Williamson and Root out. He’s quick and dangerous. Unfortunately other than that he’s not great. Averages 50, and will bowler the majority of the 5th bowler’s overs. Samad will bowl a couple to spell him if he is struggling or the ball is spinning.

Why I’ll win:

· I bat till 8

· I have a better middle order and finisher in Pathan

· Ealham and Harper are excellent bowlers in this context.

I’ll be offline most of today. Good game @Boycott

Boycott:

Robin Uthappa: Ramp shot, pull shot, gun shot - The Walking Assasin has it all. With a strike rate of over 90 he will obliterate the bowling. When he's at the crease take cover. *Made the highest score by an Indian on debut*

Imran Nazir: Another explosive opener. Has the second highest ODI score by a Pakistani. Two centuries to his name - that's two more than Parthiv Patel.

Faoud Bacchus: averages 40 at 3 and 44 opening so he is more than adept against the new ball.

Duleep Mendis: 7 50s as a part of the first Sri Lankan internationals is respectable.

Ricardo Powell: Youngest West Indian century maker. Highest strike rate of any West Indian with over 1000 runs. Powell by name, POW by nature.

Denesh Ramdin: Solid player. While fireworks go off with Powell, Uthappa and Nazir, Ramdin is the safety officer who keeps the innings under control.

Kumar Dharmasena: "Dharmasena comes in to bowl...oh that's struck him on the pads and Dharmasena's finger goes up."

Ashley Giles: The King of Spain has the artillery to win any battle.

Brendon Julian: Never mess with a man with two first names or face the wrath of middle stump cartwheeling out of the ground.

Ata-Ur-Rehman: Got Lara out.

Gary Brent: For a number 11 batsmen he's handy. Decent toiling bowler.

Average wise I have much better batting. Bopara and Shah played long careers for England, and Taibu was great for Zim.

Bowling wise I have two sheep, but Harper and Ealham were economy heroes. I reckon my stronger batting wins this.

That's the extent of my contribution folks. I'm out the rest of the day

LOL at write ups again.

Bopara and Ealham, I always liked tbh.. seems a strong one day team to me that.

Anwar Ali should not be mentioned without a link to this video:

My opponent will be two down for nothing. Samood is an associate cricketer. Brendon Julian is the equivalent of Brett Lee to him.

Too much pressure on the bottlers Shah, Bopara to cope with and he lacks match winning bowlers. All good trying to hold an end but my batsmen will take the charge.
