This TV show is based on the series of novels by Max Allan Collins, Mac Conway returns from Vietnam to Memphis in 1972 only to struggle with acceptance and his experiences as a Marine sniper. He is recruited by The Broker to join a group of contract killers who work along the Mississippi River.

Thought the first episode was pretty decent.

I really liked the pilot, Cinemax seems to have another winner on their lineup. Strike Back, Banshee, The Knick, Outcast, and now this.

So I just watched the pilot of "Quarry", Cinemax new series which will take over from the brilliant "Banshee".

It is absolute quality. Will absolutely be watching this. Wish I could binge it.

The nailed the whole 70's era crime thing. The lead is also brilliant. Cinemax making a big statement with this series, they wanna roll in the bigtimes with big brother HBO it seems.

Can't wait for a new episode. Been a long time since I've enjoyed a pilot as much.

Loved that episode. Going to be really really good imo.

Yeah I thought the pilot was really good

Far too much arguing going on between Mac and Joni.

Also what is up with that lump on Mac's forehead?

I think it's a lipoma. Seems weird that an actor wouldn't get such an obvious lesion surgically removed.

Just started binge watching this. Two and a bit episodes in. I really like it. Did any of ye stick with it to the bitter end?

I did. I found it very slow and the characters weren't very engaging.

The finale is superb, though, and features an incredible single-shot sequence.

Definitely left me wanting a second season, but I don't think the ratings were great so it remains to be seen as to whether it'll get one.

Cool. I'll stick with it. I quite like the characters. Especially the villains. Buddy is quality. Early days though.

Just finished this. Thought it was excellent. Reminded me a tiny bit of True Detective. Basically, if you'd swapped the actors round (and buffed up the cinematography) this would have knocked TD out of the park. Thanks to having a plot that actually holds together for a whole season, with an ending that worked. Really liked all the live music scenes, too.

Just remembered the show and thought to check if I missed Season 2. Turned out Cinemax canceled it after just one season. Incredible, with so much rubbish on TV nowadays, they can't find a spot for quality series like this. Shame.
