Premier League - QPR sign Macheda on loan

Mon, 02 Jan 11:07:00 2012

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has joined QPR on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old becomes Neil Warnock's first signing of the January transfer window and will wear the number 33 shirt at Loftus Road.

Macheda spent a similar stint with Sampdoria in Serie A last season and hopes to gain valuable first-team experience during his time in west London.

"There is a lot of competition at Manchester United, there are some very good strikers there," Macheda said. "But I am still young and I need to get more experience in the Premier League. I am here to train hard firstly and then I hope to play a big part in the games."

Macheda is eligible for Monday's vital Premier League encounter with Norwich and is looking forward to playing with his new team-mates.

"I was attracted by the challenge and by the players that QPR brought in during the summer," he said. "There are some very big players at the club now and I am really looking forward to training and playing with them."

"I am here to train hard firstly and then I hope to play a big part in the games." good attitude. Hope he does well. Good luck

That last line is such a forced statement

I hope the lad does well, hopefully the rest of their strikers keep picking up injuries so that he gets plenty of games.

Better late than never. It was a mistake to go on loan to Serie A last season. Experience in this league will serve him a lot better to the demands of English football. Hopefully he can flourish as Welbs did.

Not sure about this loan especially as I could see QPR bringing another striker in possibly

Will Kiko get games? I personally would have sent him to the championship where he is much more likely to play

All the best to the kid

Well I'd say he is signed with the intention to play him, otherwise it is a pointless signing for QPR. QPR are relying alot on Helguson currently too. Think he will get games there.

He will get 15 or 20 minutes here and there and score one goal in total, that's probably how the loan will go. Sunderland or even Wigan would have been a better choice i reckon but they probably are not interested

Good footballing club. But not sure he'll get the game time there. But having read what Warnock as said about the move maybe he will.

Could somebody please post on here as soon as he gets on? Thank you.

I've not seen much of QPR but I'm sure Fergie will have accessed Macheda's chances of getting enough starts there before he signed off on the loan.
