Put Beckham in the middle.

Fxxk Keane and Veron.

Put Beckham where he belongs, along side Scholes,Giggs and Butt.

Beckaham is not good enough to play in the middle, both as a footballer and a tackler. His best games are played out on the right, his best season was 98-99 with most assists all from the right.
As with Giggs they are both taken out of the game when they move in field.

As a liverpool fan, I think that United would be best served playing Scholes on the left, keane and Veron in the centre (or Keane and Butt) and keeping Beckham on the right. Of course, I haven;t watched Scholes nearly enough as the rest of you, but the 2 occasions that I have seen him in that role, he has looked far happier than in the withdrawn striker role.

I do think that, if eron's best position can be found, that he will be a wonderfl player, it would mean making either scholes or Giggs a tad unhappy though!

Yeah rite.

FYI we weren't exactly leading them.. in fact it was pure luck we didnt go down 2-0 in the 70s minutes when an attempted bicycle kick striked the post with Schmikes in no-man's land...

Nicky or Becks IMO didn't play a blinder that nite if i cld remember clearly..

He played in the middle once in the whole tournament, in the game where we were overrun for 90 mins, and fluked a win, from two Beckham corners.

Who's the Muppet?

Speaking of Beckham, did any else notice that whenever any player came within an inch of him, he'd jump two feet in the air?

What a poof.

;)

No, I didn't notice that.
Although, I did see him make a meal of one challenge by Vieira that should have resulted in a penalty.
Well Vieira seemed to think so anyhow.

He doesn't do anything for me in the middle, I prefer him on the right where he can work his magic distributing it.

Why make a big headache (Butt, Scholes or Veron) into a Migrane? ;)

Beckham should stay at right midfield position. If he swap the position it will wasted his superb accuracy right foot lob passing. Both Keane and Veron was already so far playing good in the centre midfield. Because that they're too good and the opponents always set up the defence to close up their paces. But sometimes maybe Paul Scholes have to replace one of them for more attacking strategies. Nicky Butt is a player that balance skill of Keane or Veron.
The midfield is the strongest part in the Manchester United team. The task is just to puzzle up a good formations base on the each specialities that own by the 6 very good midfielders. My personal opinion is :

Giggs - Left wing(major), right wing or left striker.

veron - left central midfield(major), right wing

keane - left, right, back(defensive) central midfield.

beckham - right winger(major), right central midfield, left winger.

scholes - left or right attacking central midfielder.

butt - left or right neutral skill(attacks or defence) central midfielder.

we have already 4 very good CM, but no replacement for Becks on the right wing. Add this to the fact that Becks is together with Figo the best right midfielder in the world, it would be nonsense to play him in the middle.
But if we need him (injuries etc.) to play in the middle he can do it. Some people here don`t seem to have a good memory (Barcelona 99)

For the truth you can watch it on video:

Bayern had an early goal after a Schmeichel mistake. Then defended with 10 man behind the ball for 70 minutes. Only to have two big chances on counterattacks in the last 20 minutes.
We were not able to break the defence down and to create chances (because we were poor on the wings that night) but we dominated the midfield for most of the game. Beckham was voted Man of the match with rating 8 from highly respected and biggest german football magazin kicker while Effenberg got a rating 6. I still got a copy at home. You can also read SAF book there he wrote that Becks and Butt dominated the midfield battle that night.
That`s just for some stupid comments here, as I already wrote with the current players available I would Becks play at the right.

After all the Glory last year maybe we shouldn`t change anything and stick with the same formation and players.

With all the peace in the camp and a great win to start the CL,everything is looking fine for the new season.

Bollocks

Beckham in the middle!!!!!!!!!!!

The earlier jokey comment is nevertheless right. Beckham isn't fit enough to play anywhere at the moment.

In the world cup he jumped out of a brazilian tackle, presumably to protect his injured left foot.

On wednesday evening, and in the other pre-season games, he has barely touched the ball with his left foot at all, wheeled away from any challenge by turning round in a circle on his right foot,
taken too many touches to get the ball under control, and adopted a very strange habit of stopping his forward runs to drag the ball under his right foot so he can get his balance back again.

He doesn't appear able to pivot on his left foot to hit any sort of shot, and he seems reluctant to put any sort of tackle in. He's "bunny-hopping" up and down the right touchline, with minimal impact on the game.

Its not his fault he had a bad injury, but if he can't stand up to a challenge then he shouldn't be playing. Has anyone seen any evidence that Beckham is actually fit to play at the moment ??
