I started the first series but only managed the first couple of episodes before becoming bored.

Bumping because I was banned whilst this thread was going....Criminally underrated series. At it's high points every bit as good as the League of Gentlemen. Not dependent on gags but brilliantly realised when they came about. The interaction between Shearsmith's Mr Jelly & the old woman was fantastic & Silent Singer was a beautifully bizarre creation.
Another example of good stuff being under appreciated in favour of vapid Will Mellor vehicles and the sheepishness of stupid, stupid people.
From the first series..Without getting too geeky or pretentious, what makes this scene so great is the small irrelevant realistic tit bits like "Better than it was thanks" that broad primetime comedy wouldn't even think to bother itself with.
