PSV Eindhoven manager Stephen McDermott is the latest manager to have expressed an interest in Manchester United striker Diego Forlan. Forlan, 22 year old Uruguayan international has been touted for a move due to his poor form for Man Utd, but so far while many clubs have had the player watched yet, many must be unconvinced as to the players abilities to cope in the European league as shown at Old trafford, where the player has yet to find the net. FORM However towards the tail end of last season Forlan began to show his undoubted abilities on a far more regular basis, and became a regular at international level for Uruguay. 8 goals in his last 5 games of last season saw him emerge as the top scorer in Argentinian soccer for the 2nd season in a row and now it seems clubs are more prepared to try and land the player. As well as PSV, Middlesbrough had been linked with the player, though his insistence on 1st team football may scupper their interest.

I don't know wher you got that crap, but with such limited funds thsi year, and his priorities on defence, Fergie doesn't need to be down to two strikers. Forlan stays, and another striker will be bought.

It is clear he hasn't lived up to our expectations but I do see him as a player who will improve. I think his pace is the strong point and he still has to score. When he gets that goal, he will carry on from there.

If this wasn't the week featuring the Veron walk out story, we'd have a winner for bullshit story of early May! What a load of utter crap, I can't believe you even posted that $ukhjit! And it certainly doesn't merit an all capitals title!!

agreed, he isnt the sharpest tool in the caf.

Who the feck is McDermott???? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Realistically three new players is enough without unsettling the team too much, and they would be two defenders and a forward(to replace Disco Dwight, who is already about as close to gone as is possible without having actually left yet??).

Have to admit that I would have prefared PDC at 2mil(or whatever it was) to Forlan, but might happily eat these words come next season.

Its way too early to judge Diego by goals. He's only young and has to adapt to the Premiership.
Personally, after seeing him at Charlton i thought he looked like a fish out of water, but recently he's looked much more assured and he seems to have a great first touch and willingness to go for goal (albeit at the wrong time sometimes).

I think part of the problem has been his position. Whenever hes played he's tried to do too much rather than stay up front and be selfish enough to score the goals. Fergie should tell him to stay up top and do the work up there and let others create chances.

If he doesn't perform next season questions need to be asked, but lets give the lad a fair crack.

There is NO WAY Fergie will let Forlan leave after such a short time at the club. Remember Juan Pablo Angel's first few months at Villa? From what I have seen I believe Deigo is A LOT better than Angel its just he hasn't quite got it in front of goal yet. But he will be a great player.

This thread is bollocks!

Forlan was signed for the future (<a href="https://www.redcafe.net/news/story.php3?id=20020410131329" target="_blank">Cafe News Article</a>), I can hardly see Fegie selling him
