Ps3 Yellow Light Problem

I can't turn on my ps3 anymore, the standby red light comes on so when you press it the green light comes for a coup,e of seconds, then it flashes yellow and power cuts out and goes back to standby.

Ive rang sony and there sending someone out to my house to swap it next monday.....not bad service.

It was a couple of months out of warranty but because its a known problem then there extending my warranty by 3 months.

Anyone had this problem or know anything about it?

Yeah i did some research and its not as rare as i thought. I think maybe its a problem with the earlier versions, im happy with the service from sony though

Sounds like the fan just turns off. Then its a red flashing light.

It could be one of many things, but something has failed. It could be the power supply, the hard disk, cooling fan, or some components on the motherboard. You only really have one option here, and that is to call Sony to fix it.

This is actually very rare, most PS3 failures come from the Blu-ray drive failing. Phone Sony, maybe they can narrow it down further for you - maybe the number of times it beeps etc.
