Didn't want to start a thread with people talking about things that i don't know, but i need a bit of help anyhow.

I am definitely buying a Ps3, just wondering what is the best deal at the moment?

Excellent, my kind of thread!

Not sure about the best deal, I'll have a look about for you mate.

I think the best one i've seen so far is HMV, as i would prefer to get it from a shop and not on the internet. In HMV i saw tye had 2 controllers, 2 games for 425.

Extra 25 pounds, but you get an extra game and HDMI cable.

It would be the best thing possible to wait till January sales, but I imagine that's too long.

I could find you some very good deals, but they would only be on the internet. Would that be alright?

No no, all legit sites, big names and that.

I'll search now.

Who is 'we' Weaste?

Does this mean prices in shops will go down, and by how much?

Chaps! My 10 year old nipper is hassling me to buy a console as such..she favours the Wii. You may have gathered I am clueless on this shit! So how would it compare to say the PS3 or xbox360?
Hectic! can you sort me a good deal on one?

Weate, could you explain the differences between the new PS3 and the current one and what you lose from the current one with the new one by PM as this isn't a technical thread ?

cheers.

Nobody knows for sure until someone gets their hands on one and opens it up.

It seems that it has no memory card reader.
2 less USB slots.
40GB HDD
Possibly no hardware support for PS2 games (this is shaky info)
Possibly reduced silicon size, thus reduced cooling, reduced power supply, smaller motherboard.

It's all a bit of a guess, but they have obviously cut the manufacturing costs by a great deal.

mmm, doesn't sound to great, I think I'll stick with the 360 for the same money.

But please Weaste, don't give me a long lecture.

You don't get a free Blu-ray player with an XB360 for the same money.

If you need card readers, buy an 8 quid box that you plug into a USB port. If you want a 500GB HDD later on, buy one and stick it in when you need it.

XB360 has no support for XBox games in hardware.

First of all I don't want a games console to play DVD'S, I want to play games, I have a perfectly good DVD player.

Secondly, I have no Xbox games so it doesn't matter to me that I can only play 360 games.

There always deals floating about on the net with discount code etc, the lowest I have seen it being sold for is £300

The cheapest online retailers are selling it for at the moment is £340
