Thought i would ask for help regarding my trouble when im on my ps3, I keeps getting these two annoying errors :(

Ethernet cable is not connected
Playstation 3 DNS Error (80710102)

When I test the connection they all say sucseeded & it comes up as nat 2, I prefer using wired than wireless

Also when im using the ps3 & its online my desktop pc keeps losing connection as well as it comes up as saying local area connection not connected, Now that only happens when my ps3 is switched on, it's driving me  So i thought its about time something was done about it, Please can anybody who has any knowledge regarding my troubles will you help me fix these problems that are completly pissing me off

Thanks :)

The best thing to do is give the PS3 a static IP address (say 192.168.1.250), place the PS3 (192.168.1.250) into the DMZ, and turn off uPnP.

Mine works perfectly like this wirelessly.
Cheers for that weaste but just to get things clear do you mean use those ip numbers or where they examples, Ok sorry for asking i know im thick but just making sure what you meant exactly

Mine is a Linksys WRT54G variant. The PS3 does its head in if left to normal/standard settings, often forcing the router to reset itself and cause the PS3 to error all over the show. It's not a PS3 problem, rather a fault with the router.

Well i have sent you a pm hoping you can sort something out for me, As far as i know my ps3 could be doing the same thing to the router (completley pissing it off)

Update: I have done as weastedevil told me to do, But still having no luck, I keeps getting the ethernet cable is not connected

Ethernet cable not connected?

I'll reply to your PM after lunch.
I tried sending you a pm but your pm's are full & would not let me send you one, By the way did u recieve my last pm weaste with the images of my router settings, Appreciate it if you would take a good look at them for me as well ;)

Please call me tommy not mon, Ok i will wait, Just thought i would remind him incase he forgot, But just dont understand this ethernet cable is not connected (when it is)

Sorry Tommy, and for not reading your post properly, back now.

I don't like the sound of this ethernet cable not connected business.

Either:

A) The gigabit ethernet port on the PS3 is going.
B) The cable is going.
C) The port on the back of the router is going.

It would gve such an error if there is no signal going down the line. Do you have another cable? That would be the first thing to check if you have one.

The DNS error would occur when it cannot resolve an address, which it would not be able to if there was some problem with the connection.

No probs weaste, Thanks for getting back in touch, Right regarding dns error that is now fixed thanks to you telling me what to do ;) but i only gets the ethernet cable is not connected error when it is, But regarding my cable i have already changed cable a few times but still gets this problem  im currently using a cat6 weaste, So could it be

like you suggested, Hope its not (A) :nervous:

Ok. Have you tried changing the port it's plugged into on the back of the router?

Could it be that the router is having a problem with the CAT6 cable? Have you tried it with a CAT5 cable? I know the cable is supposed to work with CAT5 devices, is your router gigabit capable? I'm only guessing here.

Sorry for late reply, Yeah mate tried changing the port my cable is plugged into & also it makes no difference when i use cat5/cat6 cable, Regarding my router its 54mbps, Did you look at my router settings i sent to you by pm where i took snapshots of my wan/lan ip/basic/wireless settings, if not will you please take a look it could be that i have gone wrong somewhere with my settings, thanks for your patience & co-operation weaste ;)

Am I right that you have your PS3 set to have a static IP address of 192.168.1.4 Tommy? Because you also have the router to provide dynamic addresses (DHCP) between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.51.

If this is the case, it could cause you problems. I would suggest setting your PS3 to 192.168.1.250.

Also, if the PS3 (192.168.1.4) is in the DMZ, you do not need to port forward anything.

It is in the dmz & just done exactly as you suggest & so far it's working much better weaste (touch wood) Appreciate your time & effort mate once again thank you very much ;)

Both my flatmates are getting DNS errors when they attempt to connect to the net.

All our laptops work and my 360 does..

Any ideas?

They worked this afternoon, but not last night, or tonight.

The PS3 is in the condition I stated above? Is it this particular type of router that is being used? IS this router being aDNS server, or have you entered DNS values into the PS3?

You'll need to post the PS3 settings.

I'm not sure what condition you mean?

No it's a router is Netgear but we're unsure which model.

They have ran their PS3s of it since September and have never had to enter their DNS values before.

I suggest turning it all off, router, modem, PS3, XB360, PCs included, and reboot the lot, starting with the modem if there is one. If not, the router, and then every other device every 2 minutes.
