just a quick question for Weaste or anyone (except Elvis).

Are the PS3's load times really worse than the 360's, and why would anyone care?

Where is Elvis? I haven't spoken too him for ages.

cnut.

Shouldnt really be a difference, if so it would be negligible.

On some games there are some loading time differences, eg I think GTA IV on the PS3 loads a few seconds earlier, but again its minimal. Its not a factor I would use to judge your console of choice.

No no,it means nothing to me, in regards to purchasing a console. Its just i was having a nothing argument about the subject with a mate. For some reason i was backing the PS3.

Oh and why are you never on MSN?

cnut

I rarely get on msn these days. And when i do im bombarded with random people talking to me, and inviting me to participate in innocuous events.

I may make a rare appearance soon though.

We can discuss the Waitrose kit.

He's going to look :drool::drool: in it

The golden stripes on the home kit, to commemorate our 10 years at the mad stad, will make his golden chains and golden teeth look wikid.

Alas the orange kit just makes him look like a bellend.

If you are talking transfer from optical disk, then sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Because people are too impatient nowadays.

What do you mean sometimes yes, sometimes no?

:)And what are the reasons for slower loading times at all?

When I first got my PS3 and waited about while I installed the latest firmware or whatever, and then configured all the display bollocks, and then waited 10 mins to install GTA4, I actually thought I'd accidently bought some weird PC.

It has to do with the speed of the disk spin. XB360 has a 12x DVD drive if I remember, PS3 has a 2x drive. Now, because the information is very much more densly packed on a BD, the basic transfer rate is the same, apart from when you get to the outside of the disc, which is obviously going around like a tornado on the 360.

Don't ask why sometimes I use the word disc and other times the word disk, it's a bad habit of mine.

So, when information is stored on the outside of the disc (I will not go into layers), then the XB360 can transfer data faster, on the inside of the disk the PS3 can do it faster. So, if games store data that is accessed a lot on the outside of the DVD, then it can read faster than Blu-ray which has a disk spinning at a much slower speed.
