I recently bought a PS3 - great machine. Where can I get cheap games? I only got GTA IV and Gran Turismo. I got a two week vacation coming up, need some game recommendations.
 
If you live in britain try play.com they've got loads of platinum games from £9.99.
 
Bioshock and Uncharted should be available for pretty cheap, and both are must-haves.
 
I assume Metal Gear 4 is probably pretty cheap since its been out for a year already

If you are looking for a cheap game, the first Modern Warfare was really solid and I am guessing its cheaper now with the new release of MW2. But I am guessing the online play is kind of shit now as people have probably gone on to the 2
 
Go through the back catalog first imo, since the games are cheaper, and you'll still get a good experience as compared to playing the newer games off the bat. Get MGS 4, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Killzone 2.
 
FFXIII is the one all of Asia has been waiting for since PS3 came out all those years ago...

I was just looking on the PS Store and saw Warhawk was £7.99 (!!!) in the special offers section, that is a ridiculously good deal, its an amazing game.
 
Righto cuntchoppers, I'm getting a PS3 tomorrow and it's coming with Modern Warfare 2 and Uncharted 2, which are the two games I really wanted at the moment (the other being GT5 when it comes out). I do have a beast of a PC as well, but Modern Warfare 2 on the computer is such an abortion of a game I thought I'd rather get it on the console, especially as my friends play it on the PS3, too.

I'm also receving Mass Effect 2 at the end of the week for my PC, so will be playing that, but I need some game recommendations if anyone could help. If a game is available on both the PC and the PS3, then I'll generally - except in rare circumstances - always get the PC version, as in my case that machine is still more powerful and they tend to be easier to mod.

The whole reason I got a console (and a PS3 in particular) was because of the sheer number of console-exclusive games, however. The 360 obviously gets games that Sony don't, but the good ones (Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo, Fable) all end up on the PC anyway (often at the same time, and better) so I play them there; it's the PlayStation exclusive games that I miss out on because they don't make that transition, and thus made the purchase of a PS3 worthwhile.

I tend to prefer roleplaying games, or at least action games that have a very good story to them (like Uncharted). At the moment I'm looking at:

Assassin's Creed II - The PC release is fecking ages away, and the first version's PC port was utter tripe. It was much better on the consoles. Also, I reckon this will work better with a controller.
FIFA 10 - Obviously.

What forthcoming games should I be looking at? It's mainly exclusives (either to the PS3 specifically or just consoles) I'm waiting for, as general big-game multi-platform releases will be played on my PC.

Sorry if that's a little convoluted.
 
I've heard Demon Souls is very good, i've been looking into getting that. MAG comes out on Friday and looks mental (256 players fighting each other), Star Ocean comes out soon as well as Bioshock 2.

But for older games look no further than Metal Gear Solid 4.
 
Assassin's Creed II is excellent, the first one was shit but this is a massive improvement with a good storyline and good variety of things to do. MAG looks decent but im personally waiting on that one to see how it pans out.

Heavy Rain if your looking for something different is the next exclusive coming.

Agreed. The first one was not bad, but it got quite boring after a while because it was so repetitive. They improved alot with the second one. Probably the best game I've ever played.
And the world you're playing in is just wonderful.
 
I thought the cutscenes were fantastic. It was my first MGS game and it's pound for pound the best game I've ever played.

You must have a pretty short attention span to find it boring.

I've sat through 2001 Odyssey, Bary Lyndon, Magnolia and The English Patient.

My attention span is alright.

Whats the best shooters on PS3? Something like Call of Duty? Preferably something more realistic then shooting aliens and the like (if that makes sense)
 
There are also some fantastic games available on the PSN. Games like Shatter, Critter Crunch and Flower are games that are definitely worth the money, especially if you group share.
