Ps3 games online

Ok, basically i just got a ps3 a month or so back and i'm looking for some good online titles, especially sports games and football more specifically.

I'm a huge fan of the Pro Evo series. Got Pro Evo 2008 on the PC but my graphics card isnt up to the mark. Which one should i go for on the ps3?

Fifa 08 has been out for awhile but i'm guessing the online mode is great.

I'v heard bad things about the PC version of PES2008.

Other good online game suggestions are welcome.
 
PES 2008 online is shit, unfortunately, and I say that as someone who has bought the series religiously since it started. FIFA's online mode is perfect, same as playing offline, but maybe, like me, you don't like FIFA. In that case, just wait until the new Pro Evo comes out and cross your fingers.
 
Fifa 08 is class online. Apparently though pro evo has really bad lagging problems when online.
 
Fifa is class online as long as you're not playing a sad fecker who quits when they're losing. As has been said, COD4 is the best you will find for online, although i haven't played it since getting GTAIV

Agreed.

I've been a PES fan since the beginning, but 2008 has been the worst of the series. However, Fifa 08 is the best football game I've played to date. The online mode is great, no problems whatsoever with lag, crashing... etc.

I also recommend Call of Duty 4.

do i need anythign special for online play or can i just pick up and play ?

Essentially yes, but its pretty much guaranteed you'll need to mess around with some router settings unless by fluke they're all perfect from the get go.
 
PES2008 is shit all round, but the PC version is better than the PS3.

The problem with console games being online much more now than ever, is finding decent bouts. Most you find are up against spotty little cnuts who'll cut out the second they are losing, or knob-ends who spend way to much time online and know dirty tricks to ruin it.

There are good bouts out there, but don't expect them to be anywhere near as easy to find as those you often get in PC online games.
 
cod4,fifa,rainbow6 in that order.

Only thing about fifa is it takes forever to find a match sometimes and the cnuts who pick barca for henry.

PS3 online in general is shit vs xbox ive but it's getting slightly better every update.
 
Bought fifa08 today. Really liking its multiplayer mode. Anyone fancy a game, add me or do what your supposed to. I'm xeyedesign.
 
So you did, halo 3 is bit irrelevant though, especially as it isn't that good on live. It epitimises all what Redlambs said about online console gaming.
 
I've borrowed a PS3 for a couple of days, if anyone wants a game of FIFA08 online, let me know, though I have no idea how to find one another, as I usually just choose the quick ranked game.

Same here. Figuring out how to add gaz. Not able to add him through the ps3 menu. Dont think the game menu has anything either.
