PS3 Game advice

I know these threads have been done a million times, am going to bite the bullet and buy one today (PS3 that is)....

I need an opinion on which one of the following games to get:

GTA4
COD4
MGS4

or maybe a dark horse like
Tom Clancy Rainbow Casino (whatever it's called)
Bourne Game

So which one?

Well, GTA4 didnt really impress me that much. I never had the feeling of really wanting to play on and on and complete it if you follow. Great life-span though in it.

COD4 is a work of art. Amazing game with an insanely addictive online mode.

MGS4 everyone loves, but unless your a fan of the series, and dont mind sitting though ALOT of FMV's i wouldnt buy untill it comes down in price. Its a good game, just too much watching and not enough doing.

The Rainbow 6 vegas series are both good, and are avaliable for a decent price now, especially pre-owned (gamestation always have good deals on).

I guess you dont want a sports game? Just incase, the new Madden is amazing, and soon coming out is FIFA.

Uncharted : Drakes Fortune - is a good ll rounder, pretty short though..

Anyway, i would say COD4, even if just for the online play!

If you want one of those 3 get MGS4.

(And Warhawk if you're looking for a second!)

Ah nice...so Rainbow 6 is pretty good huh? That and COD4 seem top choice at the moment then, based on that...cheers mate

Am not a heavy gamer, and am waiting for the new footy ones next one to pick that up for the sports-side. Gonna pick up Gran Turismo 5 Proluge too for a bit of racing and want one 'heavyweight' title to start me off with....I'm sure I'll eventually have the majority of them, but just need a blockbuster to start me off with...anything with a good Arena Mode (i.e: can play with mates and just have a laugh) is more preferable..

There is no more "heavywieght" than Uncharted, it is the PS3 blockbuster (as is R&C). It's also on its Platinum edition, so you should be able to pick it up for less than 20 quid.

Many people think that R&C is to easy, so if you are not a serious gamer it would be a good start. I love it because it's as fun as hell. You seem to be looking for multiplayer stuff though?

I think COD4 has the most longevity due to the online mode.

Plus the single-player is one of the best games in itself that I have ever played.

Only games I have that I have played more than COD4 is FIFA 08 and Madden 08.

COD4 seems a front-runner now, yeah a multi-player is what I am looking for really, just a bit of fun, superb graphics, easy gameplay but looking quite sleek and all...I am warming towards getting the new Bond game next month when it releases (had Bond on N64 and was a good laugh with mates, playing arcade mode, etc)...but COD4 does look amazing though and all reviews seem to favour it...is basically between GTA4 and COD4 at the moment...only hesitation was that there is a new COD coming out in 2 months or so, so thought I'd hold on, but it seems it's based on WWII, and I quite like the sound of the COD4 'modern warfare'...like I said, I'll have a library of them soon enough, but want to get started on a mega game and COD4 seems to fit the bill....

Also, on a sidenote, anyone know of any info on a Formula One game?

seems extremely old though...hope there's a new one soon...although I have been told I would forget about it once I play GT5:P

Single player dissapointed me TBH, way too easy and too short. For me, COD4 is a multiplayer game from the bottom up.

Fair enough - could have been longer and tougher.

For me it was more about how the story drew you in and the mechanics the game uses to create a believable story / scenario in which you play.

Such as the use of first-person perspective to tell the story and the tension generated in levels such as the sniper one.

Just got one!! woohoooo
Zavvi: PS3 new 80gb + COD4 + GTP:5 = £325!

am well pleased! :D

You should have picked up Uncharted as well for only 20 quid, enjoy it though you wont leave the house for a while :D

Yeah Uncharted is cheap, can just pick that up this weekend or next week...just wanted the console first though and get a good deal and the ball rolling....onwards and upwards from here now! :D

okay dilemma guys....just opened my GT5:P box and he's given me a different game (booklet and all too!)
I have Racedriver Grid....what do I do? Seems to be an ok game based on reviews and is a £40 copy everywhere I look....do I go back and get my GT5 or do I stick with it and just pick up GT5 for the £15-20 that it's on sale for....anyone have any experience of this game? hmm

Just got it changed for Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Will pick up GT5:P later tonight too

keep racegrid and wait for the full GT5 to come out.

ive never played it, just dont see the point in being honest and losing £20.

I don't want everyone to agree with me, just a little bit of peace away from retards, for example those who say that the lack of chrome trim is a deal breaker. You never have anything valid to say, always the one liner, nothing to back it up. It's called cretinous behaviour. How anyone with two brain cells to rub together can call MGS4 amazing, yet Uncharted ordinary without even constructing a paragraph is just that, a cretin. Was Uncharted too difficult for you on normal?

And people like you bought the whole chrome trim whine, in fact you're using it as a recycled insult against me!

I was making a recommendation on this thread, though since it's me, I have nothing valid to say?

Sorry, were you asking for a review? And no it wasn't the difficulty, it was perhaps the recycled gameplay elements that made me find uncharted a little on the average side. Not everyone is going to declare it a masterpiece like you.

Uncharted really is quite ordinary.

MGS4 is amazing though.

Uncharted is quite a good game Kaos, its not amazing but it is one of the better games on the PS3, come on they gave you a very cinematic experience when playing the game, not many games manage to do that and they included the use of sixaxis (even if its not perfect).

MGS4 at first I thought it was amazing and while it maybe one of the best games on the ps3 right now, I don't think it should be given the status of "amazing" this early.

Anyway to the thread starter keep Grid and buy GT5 prologue, its not like a demo in anyway. You get quite a bit of content for £15 (or even less nowadays), the gameplay is solid as ever.

Oh and Weaste has anyone reliable previewed killzone 2 yet, or is it far too early for that. I NEED a good shooter since my xbox's demise means no more halo :(

arghh, can't I just pick ANY car and race it in arcade mode with a second player + AI bots...seems like we can only race with what we have bought...and that too 1 vs 1

MGS4 is quite simply the best game on the PS3. Everything about it is stunning.

Killzone 2 isn't out until February, so reviews will be a little while longer yet. Resistance 2 is due out in November, so if you haven't played the original I would get that. RSV and RSV2 are good games and great fun online. Then there is COD4 (Single-player isn't much, Multiplayer is brilliant).

Ahh Elvis, another person who supposedely has 2 brain cells for thinking MGS4 is amazing.

I have stated many times why I think MGS4 is amazing, don't make me type it out again!

I dont blame you, infact I'm for once agreeing with you. MGS4 is an amazing game.

But this isnt me taking a swipe at you, read post #30.

Yes but I didn't call Uncharted ordinary, nor will I do. If you had backed up your statement with a few points, then fair enough, but just to call it, "..really quite ordinary." without any points to back it up really is cretinous behaviour:p

I loved Uncharted though, it had a great story, which was really well told, with some excellent twists along the way. I also enjoyed the gameplay element of it, despite the fact it took some getting used to. Also the AI was very intelligent, particularly on the Crushing setting. Nathan Drake was a great protaganist too.
