Anyone see the report on ITV news earlier?

"Shocking" report regarding the abuse that goes on...I mean ffs, what do you expect? Its hardly Sony's fault, if the people are over 18 as they should be, then I dont see the problem personally.

It's retarded. I've been gaming online on Xbox for years and the amount of abuse around on there is ridiculous. But it's obviously what's going to happen when you have kids playing gun games or just immature people. I don't mind a bit of banter, but some times it's just pointlessly extreme.

That said, it doesn't really affect me that much, and I don't much care. I'm sure the news can do better then to report on the PS3's online problems with verbal abuse. No need to target Sony either, it will happen on any console or any platform that allows all ages to communicate online. Big deal over nothing.

What happened?

Xbox Live is filled with some right wankers. I had one scouse cnut chanting Munich songs down the mic at me. It's a guarantee you can get into an argument with a Yank on there at least once a night.

By the sounds of that report, racism and bullying didn't exist before online gaming.

How do you get into chat on the PS3? is this through having a headset pluggedi n? I haven't tried yet or figured out how? is there like a lobby?

Bit of a newbie i know :smirk:

i was doing a 5 vs 5 match on fifa and the whole team i was on was spouting out some proper hatred

every time the other team got in a shot or tackl it was you dirty <insert nationaly> bastard

very annoying as it tars the whole team with the same brush

I love the banter online. Its basically harmless if you are over 16. It can be funny when someone from USA thinks the game was made for them. Its like south park...if you are easily offended by this....don't watch it or in this case, play it.

Hopefully HOME will solve this with every future online game needing to be plugged into it.

That was the one problem I had with Sony's online for PS2 ... there was nothing to regulate a user (i.e. usernames), and the user could change names from game to game. There really was no way to leave feedback or a complaint to Sony about the issue.

Xbox, while I've had my share of assholes, has it going in the right direction. I know that there will always be a problem, but for some people, just having the ability to leave feedback/complaints will calm them down enough.

I don't know anything about the Home feature, but I hope it makes you have a single username similar to Live.

My feedback is pretty fecked tbh. Most people have avoided me. Set of tits.

My feedback was perfect until Halo 3 launched. Microsoft needs to straighten out the gamerzones ... if you're in the underground, you know you're going to get shit talkers.

The gamerzones does bugger all. They should make everyone have an age on it. When you open up a game lobby have a criteria of gamers between say 18-40. It's seems to be people under 18 that have the biggest mouths. I've also found many Yanks to be annoying especially when they see my clans tag of ENG. I'm sure been a Yank you get your fair share of abuse from brits.

To be fair, I've only been paired up with Brits and Eyeties a few times playing Halo. R6V and GRAW2 has been a lot more players outside the US, but I've never had any problems.
