Pro Evolution 6 - serious help needed.

The Hairdryer

My kids have this game and I have just started playing it secretly whilst they are at school, trying to get better as they always beat my by 6 or 7 goals.

My problem is I'm a whiz at level 2 I can beat any team playing football that would make Barcelona fans blush, but when I go up to level 3 (regular). I'm complete and utter dross. Can't even string a pass together, my players get bumped off the ball to easily and I every shot I have goes at least double the height of the cross bar. (They should have a level between 2 and 3).

Just now I got beaten 5-0 by watford. Any suggestions/tips?

Best thing to do is go straight on to the hardest difficulty and keep playing and playing, eventually you will get better and you can soon enjoy the faces on your kids when you beat them.

Or you could just boot th epad out of their hand eveyr time they look like they're going to score.

Can I get some better tips than this. My players just give the fecking ball away too easily. It's frustrating as feck.

It's also addictive as feck. I have heaps of work to do.

edit: I was thinking of jacking my players passing and shooting ability up. Is this ok, or is it frowned upon in PES circles?

Of course it's not okay, that's just cheating of the highest order.

As for raising your game from the easy to high levels, you need to slow your game down. You'll get murdered if you just attack without thinking on PES6. Make sure players control the ball properly before attempting shots/pass/dribbles. You need to be very realistic with your passing and attacking strategy.

As for the shooting, it's quite bad as the power bar is too quick. Practice releasing with the correct power and try to place shots more accurately with the R2 button.

Agree with theh above. However, for me the defence is the key. Try pressing and holding the x button all the time you are not in possession, it applies pressure on the opposition. Like Justin said, slow your game down especially in the middle of the park. This should enable you to create some space and even free your wide attacking players.

Remember though, attack is still the best form of defence and choosing an ultra defensive formation and strategy will just contribute to your downfall. My personal favourite formation is 4-3-1-2 (i.e a normal 4-4-2 with a rmf, lmf, cmf and amf.
Have fun

Ok this is some better advice. I have to wait until tomorrow or later tonight to practice again though as the kids are home.

Its the most addictive football game that I've played. What I've noticed with alot of the online gamers they use the wings alot. Once they get to the byline the pull the ball back to the CF who always finds the net every time. I also use the right trigger while shooting, it makes the shot more accurate over power. I have also begun to use the manual pass by holding the right analogue stick in the direction where I wish to play my through ball. I had noticed that by using the normal through ball that the pass always went to the incorrect player. One other thing and this is hard but when your in the oppoments box take your finger of the run button, you will have more control over your player.. Hope this helps. I have a Kid who is 5 and is beating D2's and D1's online. So I wouldn't worry about your kids beating you..

Do you have xbox live. and a headset? I could teach you a lesson.

I tend to frustrate whoever's playing me alot and get plenty of yellows for them.

I'll just pass it around and wait for an opportunity to come.

However if I have a Ronaldo or Rooney in my squad. Then it's a big big difference.

I think level 3 is harder than 4 or 5 because the opposing team is set up to play defensive football, then they hit you on the counter. Just skip it and move on to 4 or even 5. you'll find them easier than 3.

Nah, I just tried this as I never noticed... and I just dribbeled past everyone and score from the easiest plays. They don't put as much pressure on you. 6-0, 4-0, 7-0 against Chelsea, Barca and Barca.

I play a modified 4-2-4 usually. I use my wings lots.

If you want to score plenty of goals (but piss whoever you're playing off), then run to the byline cut inside and pass it back to your striker. You're almost guaranteed to score.

I played the similar way, I used Bayern Munich. They have good wingers and tall powerful strikers with decent heading ability. Cross to the centre and they'll head it to goal.

Pass quickly. Use one-two passes as well as lofted through ball one-twos. Hold down your left button (next to the trigger one on either console) when you pass and then press pass again to complete the one-two. Don't rely on through balls or straight passes all the time, mix it up. Triangle passing is pretty good, keeps the opposition constantly moving and once they leave a player unmarked, fire a lofted through ball over and run in.

Movement is pretty key. The AI can adjust to your play if you say only run down the wings. Mix it up, go down the wings as well as playing it around the center. Also movement off the ball is essential, make sure you are moving your players around ahead of play so you have more options. I use manual for my controller so I can do this myself.

Don't stay in one position for too long either or try runs when there are players all around, also use your skill button and right analogue stick to maneuver players around as soon as you receive the pass. This allows you to go past players who are near you straight away, or shield the ball against them.

In regards to shooting, you can do 'precision' shots which are aimed at corners by pressing your skill button when you shoot. This works quite well with the better players. When you shoot, never shoot on the turn, instead try and get a little run up or push the ball ahead of you and then shoot. This improves power and accuracy. Obviously don't keep the power button held down too long either. You can also use 'cut-backs' to score more goals. In this case get a fast winger and shoot down to the corner and cut back in, pass to anyone and score. It's easy to do.

I agree that you should go to the hardest level first and try playing against them a lot so it's easier when you move back down levels. You can also go into training mode to improve your general play and shots. Work with one team and find out the weaknesses and positives from each player and learn which position is best for them to shoot at etc.

Just some random tips there.

Commit players forward by using the one-two control... you don't necessarily have to complete the one-two and can pass it to someone else, but it's something I often use in attack. You can do this by pressing R2 after you pass, but I don't find it quite as effective as holding LB while passing.

Also, hold x to put pressure on opponents when they're attacking, but switch between players with LB at the same time and try to intervene passes/crosses with your selected player (run inbetween the path you think he'll pass to, etc)... this all whilst holding x to let the other CPU players pressurize the opponent.
This is a tactic commonly used by advanced players online. You'll notice that when you play good players, you can hardly get out of your own half or complete a few passes. It's generally because of the fact that they know how to pressure, get the balance right to not expose themselves at the back too much and have the experience and automatism to know where the opponent is going to pass to or what he is going to do.

If you're going one on one with the keeper, the shot fake should get you either past them or at least a penalty and even a red card for their keeper. Drop back down to level 2 to practice it a few times.Get a few strides short of the keeper, hold shoot down and roll your thumb on to the pass button to fake the shot. Your player will shape to shoot, dummy, sidestep the keeper and you should either be clear for a tap-in or win a penalty with a probably red card for their keeper.

Another bit of advice when going down the wings. Try and cut in for the last third of the pitch and then go straight towards the by-line, just inside the penalty area. Drop down to a jog and if you see their player coming running at you, sprint just before they get there and get ready to do a through pass. If they take you out, penalty, great! If not, the through pass will cut the ball across the box and you'll probably have a player there for a tap in.

Get used to using the radar while running in space - you'll be able to plan attacks better and see who's free.

can anybody help me?
my girlfriends son wants to have nani and anderson in his man utd team on PES6, is there anyway he can do this?
thanks in advance.
Yes, you just register them to the Utd team from Sporting and Porto respectively in the Options.

thanks justin, is this possible on the xbox360, i should have mentioned it before sorry.
cheers.
Oh for 360, then I think no. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no player edits for the xbox.

No idea why it is, all I know is that you can't transfer anyone on PES 6 on 360.

Funny story, my advice play it while intoxicated

:lol: I don't if anyone has noticed this before, but, if you play it constantly you get into a routine of playing and become monotonous. Take a week off playing it then come back to it. For the first couple of days, you ALWAYS play out of your skin! It's fecking weird! You try all kinds of funky shit and shots that only Ronaldo would attempt whilst on LSD.
