It will make multiplayer fun.
But the point is...it's a SIMULATION and to make it as realistic as possible they have to feature all aspects of the game...diving is one of them aspects.
And it will probably be mega hard to do anyway....so players will get booked for it.

And of course it will be fun on occaision....2-2 going into stoppages...through on goal...defender reaches out *shoulder buttons* go down, player off penner....3-2 dance round the room like a loon.

To actually pull off a dive in TIF you had to go about 3 players down because of the bookings and sendings off.
It's easy to say that it will take over, but i think the opposite...you will get some cnut-stains using it too much for their own good online and then probably quitting when going 2 men down...but they are twats and no one needs to pay attention to them anyway.

I rented TIF, within 2 hours I was diving all over the show. Winning free kicks and penalties, getting opponents sent off, it really got quite boring after a while, glad I only rented it.
I guarantee you every signle prick out there will use it to cheat. It's bad enough as it is on Xbox live, the place is full of cheats. People today can't stand losing and will do anything possible to win.
There will be ways to perfect it, like those who score with free-kicks every time.
a game on the psp called world tour soccer and world tour soccer 2 (both which came out 2005) allowed you to dive, although 90% of the time you get a yellow card if you did it
fifa road to world cup 98 had it, and it was one of the most fun parts.
I would however be expecting the option to turn it off, on all modes.

In road to world cup '98 you got booked 9/10 times you pressed the dive button.
However, there was a cheat code to make it so that everytime you dived you got a free kick.
I think it depends on the people you're playing against - I have some mates who would love the cheating thing, and some who won't.
I shouldnt worry to much Pert; from all the stories I've read with people playing the game in Leipzig, they say it is really hard to get a decision from the referee after diving and the only person who pulled it off was a man who worked on the game.
So it wont be like TIF2002 where you could just instantly press L2 and then fall to the ground, It is meant to take some skill to do. Anyway you never know they may add the option of turning off diving if people dont like it.

I expect them to do that. Diving's one of those things where it's appreciated when it goes in your favour
Hopefully, diving will be an option that can be switched on/off in the options menu like injuries.

Pro evo still does not have some of the outrageous moves ISS on N64 had, it magnificent those 60yard curlers

Obviously konami should do their best to get it right, (it could be very shit and tedious if it was easy to perfect or only had one motion).

ISS was great; though whenever I tried to dive I was always carded.
I think the same will happen in this version as well to try and deter people doing it, it is a computer game after all so there will not be much human error however they will probably include that in the AI, but diving is part of the game, people demand every aspect to be covered.
I do remember though whenever I played Italy Del Piero always dived and got away with it the little fecker. It was funny though taking dives with the ball 50 yards away.
I think the people who made pro evo also made ISS, the team then broke up and the talented programmers went on to make pro evo and the others left behind continued with ISS which was shit on the GC. The same thing happened with the championship manager series, the break aways went on to make FM.

Yeah, ISS on the Playstation was class. I never played it on the N64 though
Iss on Ps1 was not the same game as on N64, KCET (konami) made ISS Ps1,PS2 and Pro Evo, KCEO - Major A team (konami) made ISS64 and ISS2000, what ISS had was atmosphere, you could feel the pressure in injury time, the crowd changed, teams that were tired and behind found that extra bit of last minute energy.
The scenario's, the Free Kick and penalty system, the mad dribbling, The flicks and tricks you could outrageously pull off and really rub it in on multiplayer. the true analogue play, the list goes on. Pro Evo is just catching up in terms of tightness of control.
I hope there will be yellow and red cards for diving.

i can too. But its not really inswinging. A right footed player, taking a corner on the right side, and curling it in and vice versa. Can't do it with a left footed player on the right side or vice versa.
