To be honest I don't really mind who or where we're playing as long as we're getting a decent number of games. It's been too sparse for too long now.
Heard we're considering some fixtures playing against grown men (would be friendlies I guess) so there would be more to come.
That's what I thought. Pretty much every great talent between 18 and 21 in Germany is already part of the first team squads and the other ones are usually playing competitive football in the 3rd or 4th league with the reserve teams. Not sure why that guy from Schalke is so excited. I can see why it makes more sense in England though.u21 seems a bit strange: most of the guys who turn into good players already broke into first team by then
England has a very old league, where the clubs like to buy the end product @RedSkyThat's what I thought. But Uefa ruled that it would only be allowed to stage such a competition within England and not across the whole of the continent. A Uefa spokesman said: “The Uefa executive committee felt that this competition was not in the overall interests of European football.”
The revelation follows Uefa’s announcement that its own under-19 Youth League would become a permanent fixture from next season, following a successful inaugural year. It will double in size from 32 clubs — those in the Champions League — to include as well 32 domestic youth league champions.
The Premier League’s competition would have featured Chelsea, Fulham, Leicester City, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton, West Ham United and Sunderland, plus Celtic, Athletic Bilbao, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Benfica, Schalke, Porto, PSV Eindhoven and Villarreal.
Did Uefa give permission for the NextGen series to go ahead in the first place or why do we even need their back for this? I don't see what this really has to do with them. Tell them to feck off and do the tournament anyway.Uefa dont give the go ahead to things unless they see them as their idea. They will more than likely change a few rules and details and have their own competition set up next year the same way as they did when bringing in the Uefa Youth League and putting an end to the Next Gen competition.
Indeed. It's essentially a friendly tournament. What on earth is it do with them.Did Uefa give permission for the NextGen series to go ahead in the first place or why do we even need their back for this? Yeah they initially gave it their backing but warned them that they had been thinking of something similar but just hadnt implemented it then when they saw the success it was getting they launched the Uefa Youth League which meant that the Next Gen Series lost almost all of their funding.Did Uefa give permission for the NextGen series to go ahead in the first place or why do we even need their back for this? All matches held in England then.
