Is your birthday 5th October?27th July. I’m expecting Jadon Sancho as a birthday gift.
Is your birthday 5th October?
So nearly a month after the season starts? Fair enough.
No, clearly as usual we will wrap up all our business on the first day and avoid protracted negotiations
I'd really like a window where we don't negotiate every aspect of every deal just to save pennies. Surely winning trophies and getting players in ASAP returns a bigger profit than saving €5m here and there.
Hang on... you're saying that potentially a couple of weeks with a player is worth 5 million quid? Say that number again. Its a bloody massive sum of money. If you or I had 5 million quid in our lives we wouldn't have to work again. This is not 20 quid, this is 5 million quid off the bottom line. We have to do the right thing for United and at the moment with considerably reduced incomes, and as a publically traded company, he is required to get the best deal, not satisfy the desires of fans to get their shiny new toy as quickly as possible.I'd really like a window where we don't negotiate every aspect of every deal just to save pennies. If it takes until the end of the window to get the best possible deal for United done, then so be it. You, and a lot of fans, are going to have to live with it, cos they're not going to spunk money around like a drunken sailor to satisfy your whims.
I agree we have to negotiate a fair price but it’s well documented that we haggled over a few million for Fernandes in the summer and pulled the deal in the end due to Sporting being difficult in negotiations, we then had to go back in January and spent the whole month haggling again when we really could have done with him before we lost a bunch of games in January.Hang on... you're saying that potentially a couple of weeks with a player is worth 5 million quid? We’ll obviously never know if he would have been as successful or if we’d even have won more games but surely his impact would have been a positive one no matter when we signed him, having the top 4 confirmed by now is worth more than whatever tried to save on that deal.
I’m in favour of negotiating a fair deal but not a deal where every aspect of the deal is gone over with a fine tooth comb just so Woodard and the Glazers can say they saved €5m here or there.
I’d actually prefer it if we were this tough on our outgoing negotiations instead to be honest.
I'd say that we have been... to the point of out-pricing a few of our unwanted players over the last couple of years. Rojo especially comes to mind as well as Darmian until he got to the point of only having 1 year left on his contract, where we had to virtually give him away.I agree we have to negotiate a fair price but it’s well documented that we haggled over a few million for Fernandes in the summer and pulled the deal in the end due to Sporting being difficult in negotiations, we then had to go back in January and spent the whole month haggling again when we really could have done with him before we lost a bunch of games in January.
