Team Scholes
Style of Play
High Line and pressing high up the pitch,
With the Pace of Walker and Radebe covering any counters or balls over the top, Fernandinho experience of breaking up play and also has a degree in how to avoid getting yellow when tactical fouling, if the press gets beat.
In possession
Look to move the ball quickly between the lines. Have Yorke at times come a little bit deeper to hopefully drag a CB to him to create a gap for Aguero to run into.
Lloris
Great reflexs, commands his box well and a good sweeper keeper which helps greatly in building attacks from the back.
Walker Hyypia Radebe
The outside CBs are both blessed with great pace and don’t care about being pulled out wide wide need be, Radebe will have great.chemistry with Ian Harte with the pair playing for Leeds for many years. With the giant Finn Sami Hyypia in the middle who to me is the best CB to never win the premiership.
Valencia & Harte
Valencia’s main traits were his pace, strength, stamina and at his peak a very good crosser of the ball.
Harte was a very good attacking left back for Leeds most known for his set piece delivery, in the PL scored 28 goals and got 36 assists in 237 games
David Beckham
With his best traits being Passing, Crossing and Work-rate makes him the perfect candidate for the mezzala role, where he will tend to move ahead of the play into the inside right channel, and means he get on the ball more often in dangerous areas than if he played Right-wing.
Paul Ince
A quality, well rounded box to box centre mid, good tackling, decent passing and has an eye for goal. Has got a world class DM in Fernandinho behind him who’s a expert at breaking up opponents attacks and a master of the Dark Arts
Aguero & Yorke
A match made in heaven, arguably the best finisher the Premiership has ever seen in Aguero who boasts the best goal:minutes ratio in Premiership history (1 goal every 107 minutes), with Yorke who’s 98/99 season is arguably the best in the draft with 29 goals and 22 assists in all competitions with obviously winning the treble.
Team H-man
Formation: 4-3-3
Concept: The entire tactic is based on possession. The idea is to win the ball back quickly if you lose it and when you have the ball, try to dictate the game and create chances that enable you to win it. To do this we emphasize the following tactics:
- Pressing as a group and cutting off all immediate passing lanes.
- Having players who are good on the ball, who can comfortably retain possession.
- High line - which both helps to win the ball back as there is less space to cover when pressing and gives us the option to attack with greater numbers and allows our creative players the option to attack closer to the opponent's goal.
Attack:
- Mane: Pace, power, goals, assists, pressing, tackling, defensive workrate, good with both feet - what can you say, he's a very complete player and playing in his preferred position to cut in to the spaces created by Firmino and score with his right.
- Firmino: Plays as a false nine and drops back into the hole to allow the other two to run into the space created. His deft little touches will play the others in but he can also score himself and his goals are always special because he's the kind of player whose job is normally to make the others look better and he always sticks to his job. He's also a key player in the pressing game.
- Walcott: He's playing where you'd normally see Mo Salah. At his peak, he's lightening quick, can score goals, and he's actually quite good on the ball as well. He often plays on the right and cuts in centrally. At his peak, his defensive work was also excellent and his contribution to the team was at an elite level.
Midfield:
- Gerrard: The 4-3-3 offers him the option to be that key player who runs into the box and scores important goals as he has done throughout his career, while also allowing him to influence the game all over the pitch. He's expected to be involved in chance creation and goals, but also hard work and impetus all over the pitch.
- Jorginho: He'll drop deep between the CBs and help with creating from deep. He's an exemplary passer of the ball and can control games with his work on the ball and his positioning. I think his work in the Italian team alongside Locatelli and Barella puts him in good stead for this sort of setup and he's actually the most defensive of the three because both the other two often make attacking runs forward.
- Gundogan: He's the player who I think has been key to how City operate after their tactical switch in December/January a year back. Not only does he offer control and off the ball workrate, but he's doing some impressive work when stepping closer to the box and impacting the game by either creating chances or scoring himself.
Defence:
- Baines: He's good defensively and offensively, he held the record for most assists by an LB in the premier league at one point. He's great at link up play, crossing, and stamina and started off his career in midfield and attack.
- VVD: Playing the exact role that he's famous for. He's key to Liverpool's high line and he's great in the air, controls the game from the back, and gets the ball out to the flanks efficiently. Key player for both the defensive setup and offensive setup.
- Walker: He's a no nonsense CB with pace to enable the high line and he's an effective stopper with a good tackle to pair with VVD.
- Rafael: Can hold his own defensively and is great as an attacking outlet as well. He's energetic, lively, and always full of beans.
- Courtois: He's a balanced keeper who is good at stopping due to his height plus he's good on the ball as well. He's consistent and also a complete keeper due to his wide array of skills.
