Was a bit bored so I thought I would make a little quiz for those who remember the first season of the P.L
1. United got off to a poor start until Dion Dublin scored late in the 4th game of the season against Southampton - but who took the set-piece that lead to the goal ?
2. There were 2 managers named Ian when the season started - what were their last names ?
3. Wimbledon paid £720.000 to sign which striker from Brentford - he would score 19 goals in his first season for the Dons
4. Nottingham replaced Teddy Sheringham with a former Norwich and Coventry striker who was notorious for not scoring goals - what was his name ?
5. There were not a lot of foreigners in the Premier League in 1992 - but as many as 7 goalkeepers were imports. Can you name 4 of them ?
6. Arguably the signing of the season was made by Coventry when they signed a 30 year old striker from Newcastle for £250.000 midway through the season. He would score 10 goals in his first 6 matches. Who was he ?
7. Newly promoted Ipswich started brilliantly during the autumn of 1992, before completely falling apart after new year. They lost 2 of their first 22 games. How many points did they pick up in the remaining 20 ?
8. Norwich shocked everyone by almost winning the P.L - and 4 of their players were John Polston, Mark Bowen, Ian Culverhouse and Ian Crook - what did these 4 players have in common
9. United won the Premier League, ahead of Aston Villa and Norwich - what was so historically special about those 3 exact teams at the top of the table ?
10. Umbro was the biggest shirt manufacturer in the P.L by far (10 clubs played in Umbro) - - Nike and Adidas only had 1 club each - who were they ?
11. There were 4 Scottish managers in the P.L - Ferguson of course being one, but who were the other 3 ?
12. Despite scoring more goals than Villa and Norwich, and only 4 goals less than Manchester United, one club ended 19th and only survived by the smallest of margins on goal difference. What club ?
13. Arsenal ended 10th (but won two domestic cups), and on average scored less than one goal a game. 2 players scored 21 of Arsenals 40 goals in the league - who were they ?
14. Uniteds homegame against Wednesday will always be remembered for Bruce scoring twice - but which United-player gave away the penalty in that game ?
15. Man City beat United in the FA Youth Cup final of 1986 and a number of the City-players in those games, played in the P.L in the 92/93 season for City or Oldham - can you name 3 of them?
16. One of the stranger signings that actually paid off, was when Palace signed a young striker from Millwall who only scored 4 goals in the 2nd division the season before. He went on to score 15 goals for Palace and was later sold to Tottenham - who was he ?
17. Two famous pundits (not necessarily loved) were in the Chelsea-squad of 1992/93, while a third famous pundit left Chelsea in the summer of 92 to join Spurs - who were they ?
18. Tottenham sold 3 big stars in the summer of 92 to finance players like Anderton, Sheringham and Ruddock - can you name 2 of the 3 players they sold ?
19. Southampton survived mainly due to the goals of Matt Le Tissier and his striking partner Iain Dowie. (26 in total) - but can you name either of the 3 experienced strikers they signed in the summer of 92 for a combined fee of £1.8 million and scored 4 goals in total ?
20. Which Palace-player was responsible for Dion Dublin being stretchered off early in his United-career ?
