I think whoever gets it 100% deserves special praise. It's total guesswork and like they said on TOTD the press didn't even bother asking Amorim about players' fitness for the match.

We should have a game like this on every match day, maybe incorporate it into the match day section and give points for your 11 and then 3 bonus points if you guess them all and then a point for each sub too

This is a bit of a one off.
 
Well this was what was seen in training:

Yoro – Evans – Shaw
Antony – Casemiro – Mainoo – Malacia
Amad – Rashford – Mount

But Yoro, Shaw, Malacia, and Mount are all coming back from injury, so swap them for the internationals and you get:

De Ligt – Evans – Martinez
Antony – Casemiro – Mainoo – Dalot
Amad – Rashford – Bruno

Ugarte could be in for either midfielder and Mazraoui could be in for Antony, but the above would be roughly my guess.

If Shaw is still a doubt I think he’ll put De Ligt there instead, and he might go with Mount instead of Amad, but otherwise I think that’s the team.

Maybe. Can you go through everyone's lineups in there? I'd quite like to have a overview which a thread does. I feel this is not a big issue that needs debating, but people can if they want. Likewise, if this is an unpleasing aesthetic experience for the mods, they can feel free to delete this thread ha.

That's literally 90% of what the match thread is before a game..
 
I just can't see him playing 3-4-3 after one week with the players.

Disclaimer: my selection isn't based on current form, but my own read on what 80% of their peak form would be.

I don't imagine Amorim having a fully-fixed starting XI, instead having flexibility to adapt everyone in front of a fixed back 3:

When facing more difficult opposition, where we're going to be more direct/counter-attacking, I can envisage using more defensively-minded wing backs and midfielders, with a faster front 3:

Dalot - Casemiro - Ugarte - Shaw
Bruno - Garnacho
Rashford

If we're expecting a team to sit back against us and give us plenty of possession, the front 7 could very easily look more like this:

Amad - Ugarte - Mainoo - Garnacho
Bruno - Mount
Hojlund

I can imagine that the two 10s behind the striker could easily accommodate Bruno/Amad/Mount/Eriksen/Zirkzee. Rashford or Garnacho could be in those roles in a counter-attacking style. Likewise with the two 8s, the "flavour" of the side dictates how we use a combination of Ugarte/Casemiro/Mainoo/Mount, while even Bruno/Mount/Eriksen could step in there if the style of play/injuries required it. Up front, Hojlund or Rashford is more of a decision based on their current form. Both could play the role, though I think Hojlund has more potential there assuming he has more development to come, and greater sense of power/strength compared to Rashford.

I'm excited for a very different era of how we play, and I'm optimisitic that there's room for all of our players against the backdrop of an adaptable system.

I’m with team @Bastian here. Nobody give a shit about matchday thread after the game is over.

But this thread…, this could mark the beginning of new United era, starting with a 9-1 win.

I’d have Ugarte and Casemiro in midfield. They’ve built a winning partnership under RVN, and it’s good to start a game with proven and good partnership.

And if Mount is fit enough, he’ll probably start with Bruno behind striker. Although i’d love to see Amad and Bruno start.

I doubt Rashford will be playing there in the long term so think it's just a case of he's had more time with him for now and he'll fancy trying to build his confidence back up at the same time.

Was hard leaving out Mainoo and Mazraoui and think they would get a lot of game time. Mazraoui in both wingback positions and Mainoo in both the number 8 and 10 positions. 'If' he stays fit, I believe Mount would get a lot of games too to prove himself to Amorim and the fans and I have this weird feeling he may do well, even if it's as an impact player as a sub.

Also think later in games we may see the two 10s convert into wingers with the likes of Garnacho and/or Antony coming off the bench.

Long-term, I believe we would definitely need to upgrade the LWB position and most likely the striker as I am not convinced Rashord, Hojlund or Zirkzee are the solution there from next season. This is Amad and Mount's chance to proof their worth in the 10 if not I believe we would be in the market for another 10 in the summer.
