We have possibly the heaviest August schedule in Premier League history alongside everyone else due to the World Cup, with 5 games. With that and what you think the team will be come August in mind, predict how our first 5 fixtures are going to go!

The fixtures:

Brighton (H)
Brentford (A)
Liverpool (H)
Southampton (A)
Leicester (A)

For me:

Brighton (H) - Narrow 2-1 win, as we’ll ride the crest of the Ten Hag wave despite only having made a single signing, and at that, a free one in Eriksen.

Brentford (A) - 1-1 draw, and we’re all brought back down to Earth. Eriksen equalises late on in one of those stories that only football can write.

Liverpool (H) - Comfortable 0-2 loss, crowd sing anti-Glazer chants at the end. United announce three signings in the aftermath.

Southampton (A) - Buoyant away end due to the signings, awful hosts. What’s not to like? 0-3 United.

Leicester (A) - 2-2 draw. Not the worst result in history.

8 points out of 15. 7th in the league.

 so real it feels pointless to even play them

W-W-D-W-D in first 5 games. The first few games will be trying to get a settled first team and a consistent style of play.

3 of the first 4 are high intensity teams that work a lot harder than us, so it will be an interesting barometer of how effective pre-season will be.

It is a pretty good start. I think we might win them all if Ten Haag gets his players and have a good pre season.

Yes you guys probably think we will get smashed by Liverpool, but the big game record they had was not amazing last year apart from beating us.
2 draws with City, 2 draws with Chelsea 2 draws with Spurs.

They are likely favorites even if we play at home, but without Mane I think we got a better chance. Just need to stop Salah who loved playing us last year with 5 goals I think. That might be a hard task since Salah is always a beast early on in the seasons.
Although I sense that Liverpool will decline this season and have a worse away record than last year.

bang on.

Brighton (H) Draw
Brentford (A) Draw
Liverpool (H) Defeat
Southampton (A)Win
Leicester (A)Draw

Oh boy, next season is going to be brutal. :nervous:

We always win our first game comfortably so I fully expect us to thrash Brighton and look amazing before we inevitably down our tools against Brentford.
WLLWD 7/15

Brighton (H) - Solid win by 2 goals, momentum behind Ten Hag, one unexpected player shines bright

Brentford (A) - We beat them solidly, the fan base starts getting overly optimistic

Liverpool (H) - A loss but we put up a strong fight, showing huge improvement since last season’s war crime level bad performances

Southampton (A) - rebound with a solid win, with fans noticing the attacking style of Ten Hag is becoming noticeable

Leicester (A) - Solid win, avenges that injury time collapse bollocks we did last season

yep, going for 12/15, although tbh one of the predicted wins will probably end up being a draw, so maybe 10/15 to start

Above all else lads, we need to smash that month. October is going to be utter hell so we need to build some momentum and points before it comes around.

Would be delighted with this, including the described fighting spirit and good play against Liverpool after what happened last season.

i have hope for no real reason at all apart from someone has to be able to get us playing better football at some point.

Brighton look as if they are going through a lot of changes in their squad. So, three points at home against theem. Beyond that match, let's see where we are with our midfield.

I'm going to the bookies and laying down on exactly these results and scores. There's no way this isn't exactly what happens.

I'd like to think that's reasonably achievable. Would love to say we could get a Mourinho type draw at home against Liverpool but it seems unlikely given I hoped the same tactics could be successfully employed last season and they weren't.

Innit, to be honest I know it might take a while for things to click, but I want to see some heart above all else, some fight. I want these players to be fuming if they’re not up to scratch. It would never, ever happen but Roy Keane as assistant coach with the pure role of putting the fear of God into the youngsters would be a beautiful thing…

Do you? Pretty sure Palace turned you over one season on first day.

8/9 points looks probable from that run but too early as you will eventually start making signings soon (as will the teams you're playing on that list).

The fixtures:

Brighton (H)

Based the season that’s just finished and our history over the past decade.

Brighton (H) Draw
Brentford (A) Lucky Win
Liverpool (H) lose
Southampton (A) lose
Leicester (A) lose

We keep going on like every fixture in that list, baring Liverpool, is a match United are expected to win. But the fact is over the past 10 years these are the matches we regularly lose or draw.

If City draw or lose to Brighton then yeah it’s dropped points, people can say it’s a match they’d be expected to win 8/10 times. But with United it’s no longer the case.

With current team: L L L L L
If we get quality signings in I will chance it

If we get 5/15, then the season would effectively be over already  Wouldn’t be surprised with the current squad though, as we got 8/15 from the corresponding fixtures last season.

Exactly. This season there will be a new system being implemented and who knows how the players will take to that.

It's too early for such predictions. As of this moment, we haven't brought in a single player and we have no idea who among our younger players will make the first team.

But if the point of this thread is to induce panic, carry on.

That was unnecessarily angry  Calm down, it’s just a fun thread in a period where there’s no football. Besides, will we sign anyone serious aside from Eriksen anyway?
