Three World Class players out (ok one has a it of a hip problem), and three (one isn't IMO) in. What's the laugh, it's his opinion?

I don't agree with him, but it's not daft.

Maybe Brummie you could state your reasons for the original post. Why those out and why those in? And why you think the team would be better.

My main problem with your ins and outs is that we end up with only Davies on the right wing, what about the left?

Unless you are saying that Davies plays in the centre of midfield and we could move to a 3-5-2 playing with wingbacks? Carlos is certainly one, but who would be your right wingback?

The trouble on this forum is that people just band out their ideas without giving a rational explanaition to their opinion. That in turn causes some to have a laugh instead of arguing their case.

Come on Weaste!

How much do you think that lot will cost you eh?

And why in fecks name are you going to get rid of the players he mentioned?

Its fantasy football....

That's why I'm asking him to justify his post. Like I tried to get them to do in my "Your chance to be SAF - for five minutes" thread that vijay kindly posted the link to.

I don't want to read all that bilge, just give me a brief run down of the facts...

You still need to buy at the same time as bringing up youth Amir. You cannot rely on youth alone.

I do agree that there is no need to go mad in the transfer market though.

I think our main problem, like that article points out is beating 'lesser teams'. Arsenal beat the shit teams with ease...like we used to. There was a time when fans of other clubs used to say that we only win the title by beating the crap teams...and losing against the bigger clubs.. The sad thing this season has been, that we've swept aside the better teams in the PL, and have struggled against the Bolton's, Birminghams and West Ham's... we even managed to hand Siddy one point... During the same period, we've beaten everything that we've come across in Europe... i team in decline? i don't think so... however, results would suggest that we're not up for the lesser matches.....or perhaps teams that play ultra defensive always get the better of us...making it impossible to break them down... if the latter then, i think we'll need another forward that compliments RVN.. maybe an Aimar, Ronaldhino..or a Cisse?

There's not much wrong..

Don't you think that the squad actually has experience in most areas though? Unless rumours are true and Fab is homesick, i think a youth policy, expansion of the partnership with Lisbon\Antwerp etc, combined with buying a few outstanding prospects should be the way foward.

so Escude instead of Carlos, Cisse\Torres instead of Ronaldo\Schevchenko.

Kenyon saying that you cannot buy success and that you always have to nurture youngsters. Also an editorial saying that people claiming there needs to be a clearout because a team finishes second are mad.

And I agree with both (And Weaste). The idea of clear out is absurd. Maybe one star will go if he's just not performing, maybe a couple of fringe players, but a total break up? No. We definately need fine tuning but not a new team.

Also, if you have the big money you shouldn't be shy and not spend it. Then again, it shouldn't be at the expense of REAL young talent. I don't think we've been doing that wrong though, no great talents were misused because we also signed players for big money.

He had a good WC with a winning Brazilian team. But I haven't seen any of him since apart from the Nike ad. What has his club form been like?

Well you didn't have to call him a wanker or to feck off just because you didn't agree with his opinion. Why didn't you just explain why you disagreed instead?

Apoligies, mis understood, was a bit harsh in what i said, lets just get back to the one thing we have in common.

I disagree about radical changes (especially selling the entire team) but it’s a fact that we need to improve in many fronts.

a) As SAF’s had lately confessed we need to increase our squad size. Remember that several players had left (at least 3 other will leave us at the end of the season) great talents that we had never really replaced. Strength in depth will be needed at the back (Keano moving as a defender would help a lot), left wing (Giggs cover), defensive midfield ( Keano’s long term successor) and forwardline ( RVN’s cover) will be needed.

B) The fact that we do not have a natural link man (Scholes is doing fairly well but is out of position) shows that we are a player far from settling well in this new 4-5-1 formation. We need a world class link man if we want this new system to run well

C) Some youths needs to be loaned (ex Pugh and Richardson) while others had proved that they deserve a chance (Webber and Tierney)

D) I am satisfied of last season youth coaches’ changes but this backroom revolution should now be spread to the scouting level too. We need scouts to find an unknown great talent that could be brought on cheap (an OGS or a Johnsen) definitely we don’t need the scouts to unveil known talents like Veron or Rio (even a youngster would know about them)

e) Versatility is one thing a merry go round is another. We need to settle down with one team, bring solidity and stick to one formation (or at least 2)

Ins:
Burdisso and Escude for the defence, straight replacements for Blanc and May plus more versatile. (Total price=₤6m)
Postiga and Bellion to cover directly for the left and right wing. Replacing the departed Chadwick and Djordic. Both explosive 2 footed talents (Bellion for free, Postiga for ₤5m)
Eric Djemba-Djemba, a box-to-box player in the Keane, Robson mould. Blessed with pace and exceptional dribbling skills for some on of his position. (₤5m)
Big names:
Djibril Cisse (₤15m)
Ronaldinho Gaucho (₤20m)
Harry Kewell (₤10m)

Out: Chadwick, Blanc, May, Giggs, Djordic, Stewart

Out

Squad
Nb: Position the player will be options for are in brackets.
1st team For Champion’s league plus big games.

1)Fabien Barthez

2)Gary Neville 5)Rio Ferdinand 4)Wesley Brown 3)Mickael Silvestre

7)David Beckham 6)Roy Keane© 8)Juan Sebastian Veron 11)Harry Kewell

9)Ruud Van Nistelrooy 10)Ronaldino Gaucho

Subs: 9)Cisse, 10)Ole, 2-6)O’shea, 1)Caroll, 8-10)Scholes

2nd TeamFor Academic Champions league matches + Weaker prem teams and Worthington Fa Cup matches:

1) Roy Carroll

2) Phil Neville 5) Nicolas Burdisso 4) John O’shea 3) Julien Escude

7) Ole Gunnar Solksjaer 6) Nicky Butt 8) Eric Djemba Djemba 11) Paul Scholes©

9) Djibril Cisse 10) Diego Forlan
Subs: 7) Helder Postiga, 9-11) Bellion, (8/11) Fortune, 11) Richardson/6-11) Fletcher, 1) Ricardo, 2-5) Roche/Spector

Why?
Look at our current 1st team:
1st choice:Barthez,Gary,Rio,Wes,Mikcey,Becks,Keano,Veron,Gigs,Schose,Ruud.
1st subs: Butt,Carroll, Phiza,O'shea,Ole,Diego,Blanc,Fortune. After that the rest are just not good enough. So we do need ate leats 8 new faces to compete favorably at home and domestically. The chief that spoken

Thats £60 million quid worth of purchases there Indian.Would be good to see though but cannot see something that drastic happening.

What we need in my opinion is either a cover/replacement for Giggs (would like us to keep him).My choice for this would be Kewell i think we might be able to get him for 10-15 million pounds.Very good player and deserves a big chance to shine in a very good team.

A defender or maybe 2.
With Blanc and May both set to leave i think a centre back and cover for Mickey at left back.O Shea could play there but i would like to see him start to fight for one position so he can grow into and get to learn it.Escude and is my choice for LB and for centre backs i will leave that upto Fergie.Maybe someone who is maybe into his mid to late twenties so get him for just a few seasons until our young defenders mature a little more.

A Striker.
Only three strikers nowadays is not enough we need someone with pace and the ability to go past players.Cisse seems a good player but a little concerned about the womens clothes malarkey. :D
Ronaldinho i don't think would be able to hack it here with the combination of his attitude off the field and the speed the game is played in England. With players closing you down as soon as you get the ball.Veron had and maybe is still not over this problem yet.
Just my opinion. :)

If we are living in fantasy land and we could spend in the region of 60m I'd go for.

In:

1) Raúl Gonzalez Blanco
2) Denilson
3) Joaquin
4) Escude

Out:

Chadwick, Blanc, May

Fantasy is the word! But imagine this for a Champions League match:

--------------------- Barthez --------------------

--- G Neville ---- Rio ----- Brown ---- Escude ---

--- Joaquin ---- Keane ---- Verón --- Denilson ---

---------------- RVN ------- Raúl ----------------

Subs:
Ricardo
O'Shea
Silvestre
Scholes
Giggs
Beckham
Solskjaer

As good as it looks what would be our chances of capturing them ?.I just don't want too many signings to happen as it may push back our up and coming players.I want to see more of Fletcher,Webber and Timm.Who have been with the club for a couple of years and are already settled at OT.I don't get to see many reserve games but i am sure there are lads who are itching to show what they can do.

Assuming no-one leaves. I'd rather go for Mexes than Escude, although in a dream world i'd love to see Chivu at Old Trafford. Although people say we have a lot of cover at CB but do we really. Rio/Wes/Mickey/Keane/JOS.

Rio and Wes are a class partnership but Wes has had injury problems.
Mickey - in my view a better CB than LB
Keane - 31. The injuries have taken their toll and is unlikely to be availalbe all season.
JOS - looks better at LB or defensive midfield than CB, and if Mickey is to be a CB then JOS will be a LB. That leaves 3 or 4 quality CB's. All it need is one injury and we are short of cover again.

The Midfield - We need a left winger with pace and skill, Richardson maybe able to fill that role in a few years.

Strikers - We need someone with great pace and good skills, maybe preferred choice would be Jermaine Defoe.

Okay then. He looks better at left back than centre back.
