Pre-Match Press Conference | Villarreal v Manchester United | UEFA Champions League

So Maguire's presence in the presser means he plays vs. Villarreal? What a shame.

Just makes me dislike Maguire even more.

Honestly, the first thing I thought when I saw this was: 'F'n hell, Maguire?'

Yes, I realise that makes me look/sound like a massive child. However, I genuinely find it hard to like the guy right now. After all the support he got from Ole, he had a humungous brainfart, put himself under pressure, got sent off trying to recover from a problem he should never have had and at a time when Van de Beek was running the game and we were creating chance after chance to stage yet another comeback.

As far as I'm concerned, Maguire's form this reason is a huge reason why Solskjaer has been sacked. Cupping his ears after a header against Albania. For the love of all things...

Watching Doctor Who was less painful than listening to Maguire

Carrick did better than I thought, he was never very good at interviews as a player either. Feel a bit for him, in at the deep end.

They look genuinely scared.
To be fair, Carrick is being launched in at the deep end here. I almost feel for him. Never struck me as they kind of guy that would go on to be a manager and here he is scrambling to take control of one of the biggest clubs in the world at a low point.

Maguire has to play for the simple reason he is suspended v Chelsea so we can’t afford an injury to one of the other centre halves.

Such a poor, poor decision by whoever made it to put him infront of the press after the past week or so he's had. But then our football club is incompetent from top to bottom at the moment, no two aspects are singing from the same hymn sheet.

Have to say it was pretty refreshing watching a presser without hearing all those clichés we've gotten used to. Thought Carrick handled it well. Don't ask me why but it bugged the shit out of me when Maquire left as soon as his questions were finished with. Would of been nice to show some sort of support for Carrick without running out at the first opportunity he had.

Yup. Ronaldo is the problem according to English press. Unbelievable.

Maguire also gifted Leicester their 1-1 goal.

Well to be fair Ole did to him what the board has done to Ole: kept playing him even after it was obvious he should take a break.

That harry guy has no right to sit on that chair before he start to wake himself up. No right to open his mouth too.

Same! He handled it well and was quite calm, good responses to the questions.

Right enough, he just bailed on Carrick. So much for a show of solidarity. Don't they usually ask the manager questions first?

Listening to Maguire speak is enough to put you to sleep. How the hell was this lad made captain is beyond me. He has to be one of the most insipid lifeless people I've ever heard speak in all my life.

Journalists being spineless as usual.

Should have said this.

So Michael, you've been coaching the team this season on the training pitch, clearly they have looked pathetic for the majority of the season, do you really think you are good enough to stay in this position and is it not laughable, that you and the rest of the coaches are staying on and please explain, how Phil Jones is still a United player.

They literally say at the start of the press conference we will start with Harry as he has to go and give other interviews

That's my problem with Ole and now Carrick. When I listen them it is all hot air, cliché and no footballing intelligence. You can't figure out what imprint he would have on his team.

May be have to endure few more matches before a real manager walks in... hopefully.

Maybe, maybe not and it was a little concerning for him to basically say the approach would be the same. Although he's not going to give out his plans for tomorrow now is he?

I thought they both did well enough. It can't have been easy with so many questions centred on what went wrong and what Ole did/didn't do or say.

Thought Carrick did well for the most part but didn't like his assessment of the Europa final. We did not play well that game.

Maguire was as dull and uninspiring as expected.

Fair play to Carrick for fronting up to the press and doing better than expected for a first time presser - oh and not smiling! Shame he has all the charisma of plankton......

Less said about Maguire the better.....

I admire Carrick for stepping into the shoes. I predict a response from us that will last a few games. We really need to win this game tomorrow to get the ball rolling.
