Just been reading the various threads following yesterdays loss to the Sheep. The misery is palpable & the cries are going up, "Sack! Sell!"....
SAF has 5 games b4 being crucified & Beckham & Giggs etc are crap........Well I have opinions too but I'm not getting into that "spirit". There has often been talk of Glory supporters on here & sometimes I think its arrogance BUT the reactions at the moment from some people makes me want to puke........we all want silverware etc but if that's ALL you want....

Yeah well thought I'd address it specifically..got a problem? ;)

I would never have a problem with somebody who has MAD in there name  ;)

we couldnt break them down and when push comes to shove you can always rely on bowyer and woodgate to get a foot in. :p

Managers are over-rated, and too harshly criticised in my opinion.

How could it be Sir Alec's fault that Beckham would lose his footing on Wednesday? The manager's going to get the stick for it. In the same way how could it be Sam Allardyce's *ahem* "Genius Management" that meant Beckham slipped on Wednesday.

It wasn't Fergie's fault that Beckham lost his footing.

So that's sorted then. We should be OK now. No other problems........

I think we need to have a long hard look at our playing staff and make some changes like Forlan I like him and think he needs more time and the preasure taken off him by bringing in a proven striker this option would also help Rudd and Ole who ar'nt in the best of form. Midfield needs money spent on it as well but only if we have long term injuries (Keano,Scholesand Butt). The defence need time to settle, and get use to playing in odd positions ie O'shea at right back.
I don't thnk that we will be far off the pace this season but we have to trust the gaffer.

Why not ? You're on a forum for feck sakes. I'm turning into a broken record saying that there is nothing wrong with having an opinion that perhaps disagrees with the current situation. If we all agreed with the way things are in OT then WE'D be the Sheep rather than Leeds. If you have your opinions then let them be known if that's your preference.

I agree the whole "Sack Fergie" tripe is just amusing it's so fickle, but with regards to Giggs - mate he's been consistantly rubbish for the past 2 seasons only lighting up every now and again, and there is ground to be disappointed at him. I'm not waving the "Sell Giggs" flag. Giggs will retire at United, but don't pretend he's putting in performances like he was back in the 90s when he's not ! No point resting on his former glories (as they say ;) ) because it's the here and now that matter in football.

If we were given the license to justifiably rest on former glories then Liverpool would be the greatest team since bleedin sliced pan based on their performances in the 70s & 80s

I'll have another round of prawn sarnies. I'm not writing us off as easily as some arse'oles on this site! I'm far from convinced that we are dead in the water or that Arsenal are as wonderful as Wenger says! I don't believe that Highbury is the 'paradise' for footballers and if Houllier reckoned they were '10 games from greatness' last season, he evidently forgot to add a few noughts on the end!

In fact I'll have 2 rounds. The CL hasn't even started yet.

I don't think you read me right. I do have opinions & quite strong ones, which I am happy to express but at the end of the day I'll be a United supporter no matter what. Its hard to put your finger on it but the "spirit" I was referring to was one which indicated an anoyance that we may not win stuff per se as opposed to the Club not doing its damnedest....the "spirit" Keano exhibits at his best is the latter, hence the refs to prawn sarnies. I welcome criticism from died in the wool Reds (excuse the pun) ;)

Simple solution is to have two after match threads only - one negative and one positive. Redmad and people who think the moaners shouldn't be allowed to moan or at least have no justification for moaning can stick to the postive thread and the moaners can stick to the negative thread. May your paths never cross. And my, what a boring forum it would be with no conflicting opinion. Do you think that cliques of gloryhunter police will form in the moaners' thread and that they will come knocking on the door of the positive we'll be allright thread?

Don't be a twat, I didnt say there was anything wrong with moaning, just that the ott reactions were absurd & seemed to justify the ascription "Glory Hunters" to SOME when in the past I have thought this 2b just arrogant talk

And that,s my honest opinion ..but if you don't want me to have one... ;)

I wasn't being a twat mate. Calling me one suggests that you might be one though doesn't it?

My point was that people always moan on this site and the moaners will always be there. The moaners then get moaned at by people like you who get all worked up about this perceived arrogance and moaning and write full on thread dissing them all. What's the point? They're hardly likely to take a blind bit of notice of a word you write anyway are they? Just leave them be and accept them as fixtures, cos that's what they are. Half of the posts in this thread are people moaning at moaners. Kind of ironic isn't it? In the meantime there's opinion to put forward and discuss.

There you go again....

Yes, I have, you're having a go at moaners.

Excellent.

Maybe I should add "unintelligent" twat. Not moaners but ephemeral fans who are ready to axe the whole club because they think an era is over...spot the difference....YOU are moaning at me!

Ephemeral fans who are ready to wield the axe, moaners, what's the difference? Besides what gives you the right to deem them ephemeral? That's moaning.

I wasn't moaning at you, I was suggesting people stopped wasting time moaning at others and declaring themselves the perfect fan.

So now I,m not allowed an opinion either. I may be wrong but that is what I felt & I expressed myself. You dismissed that in a v high handed manner IMO. Maybe the @10,000 posts have gone to your head.

But you're typical of the moaners on this site who declare themselves the perfect fan and others as gloryhunters. In your brief time here you will obviously have made a note of these ephemerals - please be so good as to list them. You can't can you? That's cos you're talking bollox and assuming that there are many on here who aren't quite as manc as you are. You're a great fan, the best.

And it isn't like you can get decent prawns in the UK. Just those hideous shrimp thingumys in that dreadful pink sauce.

You know what? If they could guarantee big fat juicy tiger prawns done in chilli and garlic I'd support United for a couple of matches. I'll bet I could get filet steak at Arsenal though - that'd be me on my bike.

You should support the Brisbane Strikers - the prawn in Oz are excellent. Some of the tiger prawns are the size of a small cat.

When I called you a twat earlier I was'nt being serious (but i,m changing my mind) as I have genuinely enjoyed reading some of your posts in my time here .....not as short as you may think (jul 2001)..I use the site whilst working & read more than post, which is why I believed I noticed a dramatic change in attitudes Saturday/Sunday which bordered (IMO) on the absurd: eg the guy who said SAF should be monitored for the next 5 games & sacked if we did not win 4. I have not said I am the perfect fan & do not think that! I also said that I have previously felt those who criticised "Moaners" as Gloryhunters were perehaps arrogant (i.e thinking themselves perfect fans...so its you talking bollox, cut me some slack for fecks sake. If you want to slag me off as a "typical moaner" because I felt recent reactions were crazy then go ahead.

It wasn't obvious to me that you weren't being serious when you twice called me a twat. Perhaps therefore you can appreciate my response.

Last season we had a bad run. Then too people called for Fergie's head for this player to be sold etc etc There will always be some who do and this season is no different.

I have a problem with this whole gloryhunter thing - I don't honestly believe people switch from one team to another like that. When people allude to gloryhunters I sense a holier than thou attitude which I feel is unwarranted. People will argue the toss on this poit forever so I won't go on.

I suppose the point is that I'm not sure why people who are not of the moaning disposition even bother responding to the moaners - hence my tongue in cheek suggestion of having two threads after each match. The moaners will always moan. It becomes very easy to spot moaners and moaning threads after a match - there's usually about 5 in the space of 5 minutes after the final whistle. I try to avoid them and discuss United with those whose opinions seem more reasonable (usually a day or two later).

OK..1st I obviously offended you & I apologise as I genuinely did not mean to
2nd you have spent a lot longer than I on this site & have had to endure more of this kind of thing & I appreciate that.
I kicked off when you lumped me in with attitudes that I have heard expressed in my short time here that I would not subscribe to.
I just wonder if there are fans (& not nec just on the site) who have never known Man Utd as anything but the best, in the UK at least, who sensing the end of an Era are freaking out & thinking & saying bizarre things. Perhaps you are correct in saying they are not Glory Hunters. I can live with that but surely what they are saying is, to say it without emotion this time, not right?

Cool - no worries, all forgotten.

I'm sure there are plenty of fans who have never known United as anything other than the best. Thing is you can't expect them to have any appreciation of the bad times if they haven't lived through them. It's all about experience isn't it really?

Anyway, I think the ones who spout off about sacking the manager, selling this player or that, are frowned upon possibly because in their after match frustration they are joined by dozens more and then all get lumped together as the wankers whereas each may actually only be making one point (which many privately might construe as valid) or they are cm types who want to buy a billion and one players each week. And of course, others are wind ups.

I try and discuss United with the many fans whose opinions I respect, usually a day or two after the game. In short, feck the moaners who appear after a game ;)

;) OK Mate. Catch you later on some other thread & maybe we won't get our wires crossed again. You make a lot of sense Dans. Keep it up. & remember if I,m not talking I am listening......keep an eye out for the Spunk Monkeys ;)

Dans I told you to watch for those Spunk Monkeys

I just want to know if spunk monkeys are any relation to sperm whales?
