Possebon set for Braga loan stint

Manchester United midfielder Rodrigo Possebon will spend next season on loan at Sporting Braga, both clubs have confirmed.

Possebon, who moved to Old Trafford from Brazilian club Internacional in January 2008, has made only eight appearances for the Premier League champions following his debut against Newcastle on the opening day of last season.

However, the 20-year-old is one of the brightest prospects in the league - and United were known to be keen to keep hold of the Brazilian - who holds an Italian passport - but farm him out for first-team experience.

"This stadium is beautiful," Possebon told Portuguese club Braga's website.

"I've never seen anything like it.

"I hope to have a great season and help the club.

"I am very enthusiastic about the ambitious project they have showed me. I never had any doubt about accepting this offer."

I like the lad, I just thought at times he wanted too much time on the ball. I don't know how tough the league is out there but it will be good experience none the less so long as he plays.

They are in the Europa League.. I hope he goes there and becomes 1st choice and gets a chance to play against good sides in the new format of the Uefa Cup..

That is not good news.. But better late than never atleast he has spoken out before the transfer window shuts! Otherwise he would have been either stuck there or in our reserves till Jan..

O well we have another Midfielder to put in our ranks!! Hopefully he'll force himself on our bench!!

so he hasnt played a single game for them yet ..
could loan him out if thats the case

keano,fergie jr. .. want ?

It's out of character but maybe he's doing the right thing. You can never be too sure. A loan move doesn't always do people favors and right now he needs games.

I'd rather he return to the club or perhaps go to a premiership club for 6 months.

Some discussion of this in the Possebon watch thread. Apparently the final roster involved a trim from 27 players to 25, and Possebon was one of the last two to be cut from the squad.

Manchester United midfielder to be sent home after one game of year-loan

Rodrigo Possebon, Manchester United's 20-year-old Brazilian-born midfielder, faces the humiliation of being sent back to England only two months into his year-long loan arrangement with the Portuguese club Braga.

Possebon, who broke into the United first team early last season before being injured in a red-card tackle by Middlesbrough's Emanuel Pogatetz, has played only one match so far for Braga, a Europa League qualifying tie against the Swedish team Elfsborg, and was so poor that the coach, Domingos Paciência, substituted him 34 minutes into a 2-0 defeat.

The teenager, an Italy Under-20 international after qualifying through his father, has been shunned ever since and Paciência has made it clear that he has no future role to play in the team. Braga have subsequently spoken to United about whether it is possible to send him back although the midfielder's agent, Jorge Mendes, is against the move.
Very bad news if true. That was the 2nd leg of a tie in which they had lost the first match 2-1. Needed a win away to stay in the Europa League. Not good at all.

rubbish ..
he isnt ready , but he isnt that bad

he certainly is no ali dia

Does anyone know where Possebon is?

I heard this loan has been cancelled but haven't seen him featuring for the reserves.

Is he back with us?

Anybody know where the kid is? I assume he's on the bench in Portugal.

 Interesting choice to say the least

Would like to see him go to West Brom though, they play some decent passing football and should suit him well

Given that a Boro player put him out of action for months this seems like a joke.

Talk about him being loaned out to newcastle. Can see him being offloaded in the summer

And what would he be doing, Chief?
Rebuilding his United rep in our reserves plus self confidence. Just like Gibson did.

I'd argue he's too good for our Reserves.
So would I. But his disaster of a loan spell has not helped him one bit. Another loan spell on the back of that IMO would be too soon.

Seemed fairly pissed off about the situation which is fairly understandable
