this is hilarious...
Mrs Beckham vs Peterborough United

Becks wants to get her under control!

That's well out of order - she'll want them to pay her next if she let's them use their name at all.

Jesus... surely being a stinking rich woman with everything cant be that boring - cant she find something else to do with her time.

Next she will be saying,

"I can't understand why people don't like me"

Shes nearly got the earth already, what else does she want?

"the football club's application to register the nickname, 'The Posh', which they have used since the 1920s."

the 1920s for feck sake! she really is a bitch isn't she?!

Sounds a tad ridiculous but as long as she keeps David happy it's alright. She managed to keep her gob shut while her familiy was under threat to help David concentrate on the game which was nice.

and since the spice girls no longer exist and she is mrs. d. beckham, how exactly can she lay any claim to the name "posh spice", let alone "posh"?

moronic bint.

She could claim posh spice very well I think. Posh sounds plain daft to register.

it's a fecking misnomer anyway, 'cos given her upbringing she should really have been known as "moderately-middle-class-with-a-detached-house-and-a-volvo-estate spice".

;)

Someone I know has met her and been around her a bit. This person got the impression that she really cannot stand that her husband gets more attention than she does and that he is more famous than she is.Thought it was an interesting observation.

Don't forget the voice - talk about grating.

If she is looking to make herself more popular, then she really is going the wrong way about it.

Didn't really mean to start a let's get Victoria Beckham thread... just thought it was funny. I felt very sorry for them all at the weekend it can't be much fun having your family threatened. Maybe she's been badly advised.

Or maybe she's just bloody stupid.
:D

It is sad, especially when children are a part of that threat. You don't want to see it happen to anyone, no matter who they are, but you have to wonder if they haven't brought alot of this on themselves. They have lived their lives very much in the public and very rarely shy away from the media attention. I am not saying they are totally to blame because it could happen to anyone who lives their life in the public eye really. But they don't exactly try to keep a low profile either which does not help.

It sounds genuine enough - but so does a lot of media stuff.

It wouldn't be unheard of for only half of the story to have been given.

How come we jump to the defence of some when the media start, and jump on the bandwagon with others.

I for one am much more skeptical about the media. My husband is a journalist here so perhaps he has rubbed off on me a bit.The whole situation is sad, especially the part about involving two young children and I do feel sorry that David and Victoria had to go through that, nobody should have to, it is alot of uneccessary stress. But at the same time, they need to think about the fact that they are high profile for whatever reason and that some of it they bring on themselves because of their actions. Maybe they should tone things down a little and this whole thing about who uses the term 'posh' is one of those things. She is not going to win that battle, especially as someone else said, because the Spice Girls do not exist anymore. Many remember that she was a part of the band, but just as many know her as Mrs. Beckham too. There is what she should be copywriting.

Oh Dear! Poor 'Posh'!

She does rather let herself in for it!

Oh well! If it keeps her happy it keeps David happy and that is what we want! :)

One day she will learn! We will all say Posh?!?! Isn't that something to do with Peterborough Utd!

what i am going to say may upset those who post here, but sorry, if you know what trademark law is all about (it's common sense approach too!), you would have a different prospective in the whole 'posh' argument. And in my humble (but more knowledgable in that area! :) ) opinion, she is fighting the battle with cause and justification.

The registration of trade mark for one's 'exclusive use' is not as simple as you folks think. If Peterborough is allowed to registrated 'posh' or 'the posh' as thier trade mark, what then happens is, victoria is no longer allowed to use 'posh' or arguably 'posh spice'in the future in any marketable products UNLESS she got the 'licence' or consent from Perterborough Utd. (or the owner of that trademark name). Is that result fair to Victoria? Or to others who has used the name 'Posh' as thier product/brandname for a 100 years for example??

Besides, before this case comes up, honestly, have you (an average man in the street, even a football fan!) ever known 'posh' is the nickname of Perterborugh FC? Ask yourself: What is your immediate reaction if you see some merchandise off the street bearing the 'brand' 'posh' (even it is on shirts, caps, scarfs. and football related)? Would you relate it to 'peterborough utd.' or 'posh, the footballer's wife'?

Ask anyone in the street in UK, you know what the answer is. Moreover, ask anyone in the street in NY, in Chicago, in Japan..... you can guess what the answer would be! Have a think about it, who has 'more right' to claim 'trademark' of the name 'posh'!!!

Just hypothetically, imagine, if your home club has used a nickname 'Jaguar' for 200 years, do you think you can claim and register 'Jaguar' as your club's trademark OVER the carmarker (who might have only been in existence for 80 years?)??? Dont think so! :)

Having said all that, i am not taking a stance for one or the other. But just wish to make a point: her objection is legitimate and well advised (whether you like her as a person or not!)It needs to be argued who has more right to claim 'exclusive use'!! Maybe neither of them has such right! But you need another forum to argue that.

WWF had to change their name to WWE coz World Wildlife Foundation got there first...... even tho' WWF had become a huge brand label..

now how can 'posh' spice claim exclusive rights to a name which has been associated with Peterborough for decades.... they actually have 'posh' trademarked....can't see whats the bitch's problem.

for your information, 'posh spice' is not claiming exclusive use now!!!!!!! It is Peterborough now wanting to claim exclusive use, and she is OPPOSING it....on grounds that the name 'posh' is now more well known to be related to her, and not the football club!

As i said, she has legitimate ground for objection. (Reason stated in my previous post) If you dont understand the 'jaguar' example above, i dont know how i can explain it to you. Every case will turn on its own facts and merits (therefore it is not easy to judge whether the football club or posh spice can eventually succeed. Claim of 'prior use' is only "EVIDENCE" of use to support an application, and NOT CONCLUSIVE!

But if you insist that she has lesser right, how would you decide who has more right in the 'jaguar' example above? If you think your home club has more right than 'jaguar' the car, THINK AGAIN mate!!

no, they (peterborough) hasnt had it 'trademarked'yet, in the sense that they havent yet have it successfully registered in the registry, as there is an objection in place. They are still having a battle to fight, and in my opinion, not a straight forward and easy one! But i am sure if the decision maker is like yourself has a problem with the posh spice, she might then not be successful. But then it is not based in merit.

Sad, I know, but yes I did know that Posh is Peterborough' nickname. Take your points on the other stuff though. Doesn't it depend on what 'sector' they're registering 'Posh' in? I don't think they'll be associating with pop music?

Its all bollox. Stupid cow. Most of the country can't stand her at the best of times, now she's decided to really turn the public against her.

On the other side, it's great for Peterborough though, gets them all lot of media coverage which is vital to a struggling lower league club.

I heard that Peterboro wanted to patent the name, and so she's objecting because of her association with it - not that she wants to stop Peterboro using it.

I'll bet it's not entirely as the press make out.
