Could this be the reason why I have problems connecting to EA in FIFA to agree license and agreements?
Yes. The same happened to me last year. For me, it was solved by setting my router's firewall to medium/low. The port forwarding is just additional to that.
BUT, Weaste knows his stuff re the PS3, so follow his advice if in any doubt.
brophs, that guide was difficult to follow as I've got a netgear router 
I manually set the IP to 192.168.1.150 in PS3
then I went into the router settings and put "192.168.1.150" next to "Default DMZ server"

Yes, as long as the router isn't outputting .150 over DHCP.
The DHCP is set to 256 max, but when I put these figures in Playstation and make a connection test I get DNS error 80710102
