Until we start winning again.

Spoke too soon. Checked email and I've just been chubbed for Arsenal. First time this season.

Back to the original question. We were in a continuous down curve since 1999, that's undeniable and no need to hide away from that. It's still a bit too early this season to determine whether we are still dropping, already halt our decline, or even start to rebound. Judging from the matches in this season so far, we are:
1. Struggling in nearly every EPL match, but
2. Stroll thru the 1st round of CL fairly easily (though against some very poor opponents).
Therefore, deep in the heart I hope we can draw with some really tough opponents (such as Roma, Milan, Barca, etc.) in the second group stage of CL. Only that will we really know how good we are now, and playing against some big guys can help our players to raise their game.

We'll know by early december when we have played some of the big guns in europe and both the arse and pool

Yes, December is always a critical period in a season and I'm looking forward to it

I'm surprise you said that...given our current form at the moment

but.. don't you think that falling further will affect the financial situtation of the club? i wouldn't want it to come to us selling off players to save some money.. that'd be ridiculous..

We had the highest attendence in England when we were in the second division. It wont happen!

So what? We definitely must raise our game in this period. May be we can perform our best standard when we are against the tough opponents.
Besides, we also seemed to have a "tradition" of starting to raise our game from/after December.

Spot on. Trouble is 90% take winning trophies for granted because they undervalue what we have done.
