Anyone play? What form? You any good? Live or Online?

Thats enough questions for now

I play most weeks during th ecricket season and very occasionally play online i really enjoy the mind games you get to play with the other participants.

played texas hold 'em friday night with a whole bunch of friends. there were too many i guess and everyone got really drunk after a while and just started throwing their chips in the air. but yeah i play every now and then, always with my friends, and usually with only plastic money.

My mate's parents play online for a living. Both of them don't do ny work at all, yet they still make a decent living.

Yeah the game deteriates very quickly with drunk people when there is not money on the line. I find it hardest to read people when they have had a few but not too many as their game slowly changes and quite often they become more ambitious.

I love to watch it on the television. The top level players are all so interesting. Phil Ivey, Devilfish Ulliott, Phil Helmuth, Gus Hansen, they are all so cool. I would not want to play, because I could see how it would get me totally hooked into the game, and then I would be flat broke. Watching it from a distance (via the television) is all right with me.

I've played against the Devilfish. He comes across as an arrogant prick but he's actually a top bloke.

Great player as well. Impossible to read

I play once a month. There's a group of about 6 of us who get together with a crate or 2 of beer and a load of pizza's and spend the evening taking money off each other. It works out cheaper than a night out and most of the time it's more fun

You should check out the Gutshot Club on Clerkenwell Road. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Ever play online?

I did play online for a while but didn't enjoy it as much. Don't really want to get to much into playing at clubs and the likes. Just prefer a relaxing night with mates over a couple of beers.

Helmuth is a twat tho. Still, makes me laugh at times, so not all bad.

Hellmuth is over-rated IMO. Good tournament player, bad cash player.

Most of his success came before the poker boom, he can't really adapt to the new breed of aggressive players out there now.

Phil Ivey, Laak, Nguyen, Negreanu. Probable top four players out there IMO

Play both, better playing live though. Been in a couple of tournaments and didn't do too badly. Have the odd game with the lads for €100 in, winner takes all. Gus Hansen is my favourite player, feckin betting machine.

There's always something good about having your mates over for a few cheeky hands. It's so easy to do now too, you can get your chips anywhere, you can even get them in the pound shops, granted they are pretty poor though.

We're planning a big day on the 13th, beers and BBQ for the daytime to watch the cup final then poker in the evening, quality

If your half sober by the end you'll clean up.
