Playing games on a modded Japanese Wii

Long shot, but might anyone have any idea why a legit copies of Rockband aren't working on modded Wiis?

Bought myself a whole set recently, and the fecker decides not to load up on my wii!! I've been hearing similar stories from people who have modded wiis as well.

is it a dual layered disk?

I think it's single layered.

I've been told to make a backup, and "sign" the disk. But i've no idea where to even start.

Maybe it has something to do with the region? Just guessing really...
