Rooney's ball and van Persie's volley.
This just struck my mind thinking about Lenny Yoro, and the fact that he never appeared competitively for EtH before he got the sack.

Have we ever had a situation where a player signed for Manager 1 but never played for them, and ended up debuting under Manager 2? Don't want to include Zaha in this as that was across 2 windows.

Also, what have been some hits and misses along these lines across various clubs? Not many names come to my mind!

Varela never played under Moyes, despite being his first signing.

Johnathan Woodgate at Real Madrid, there were 3 different managers between him signing and making his debut, which he scored an O.G and got sent off.

Can't think of any off the top of my head.

Interesting stat on De Ligt will be that he's had 7 managers in 6 seasons when we make this appointment and has never started 2 seasons with the same manager.
