Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
So around 80,000 people turned up in the middle of the day on a tuesday to see Mbappe wave and do some kicky-ups.

Are these people idiots or am I just not a proper fan (both of these things can be true)?

Mbappe is a superstar and I think it's something fun for parents to do with kids.

Adults going to get a sniff of Mbappe's armpit are weird.

I thought it was cool when I was a kid.

I used to think it's cool as a kid too, now I think it's for weirdos unless you're going to take your kids or if you're a tourist. Any grown man who takes a day off for that is a weirdo.

Sergino Dest's unveiling at Barcelona is comedy gold, and makes all the other cringeworthy ones worth it.

It's not free

Edit - actually I'm not sure now if is or not. Read somewhere there's tickets.
It's free for the socios but of course many took the opportunity to resell their tickets on the black market.
I think it's great when the guy you paid dozens of millions fail to do 3 keepy uppy and you watch him die inside in 4K.

I don't know if I'd say it's pathetic. It's a pretty cool tradition, but yeah it does seem like it's geared more towards kids, families, teenagers etc.

Too much hate and criticism of some basic things that lots of people obviously like.

It’s not something I’d personally go to, but it’s harmless, inoffensive and seemingly popular. What is there to criticise about it?

I always got the impression that a lot of fans who struggle to get/afford tickets turn up to these things. So not going to begrudge them.

Pathetic. Love them, especially when they do tricks like playing the piano or blowing up balloons

It’s ok for kids. Otherwise it’s weird.

I think it’s a bit cringe. And at the risk of sounding like an old man railing at the modern world, I see it as part of the trend towards fans supporting celebrity players rather than teams.

I don't understand what people get out of it.

It's obviously something, so great marketing on the club's part.

Pogba’s music video in 2016 can’t be beat in terms of being cringeworthy so I’m not bothered these days.

It's great. We love to do things that are over the top and pompous. It's part of the liturgy, from his arrival at the clinic for the medical examination, Florentino's repetitive speech and the full stadium, to show our devotion to him as we wait for him to kiss the crest and tell us how wonderful we are.

I think the online ones are worse. Fair enough for the odd potentially huge signing, but a full social media video for announcing Tom Tallback signing for Burnley is over the top.

I couldn't give a shit personally. If United started doing it then I wouldn't ever turn up to one but I also wouldn't begrudge the families who attend. I found it strange when people got annoyed about our Pogba and Sanchez announcement videos. You can choose to avoid watching this stuff if (like me) you don't get the appeal.

They can't understand, they're NPCs

But it's only Madrid who do the over the top fans inside the stadium one though right?

I will never forget the Theo Hernandez presentation with his chaotic kick-ups

If it's free to see or super cheap I don't mind it. Something to do. Kid-friendly celebrity watch outing.

Nah, I don’t like it. Just have a small photo op with the manager presenting the shirt - like Ruud, Rooney etc (I dont think there were huge crowds)

Very cringeworthy to have a presentation for someone you’ve signed as opposed to someone who has actually achieved something for you - these would be better for retiring or departing legends instead.
