Greatness ...... well about 10 games from it actua
BARTHEZ - 6 - nowt to do .... no potection for the goals
GAZ - 7 - got forward well and at 2-2 he seemed to come into a Central midfield position
JOS - 6 - bored for most of the game a little clumsy at times
blanc - 6 like wise re:bored, took his goal well but would have liked a little more to prevent the goals
Silvestre - 8 - a great game he MUST sign a new contract .... got up and down the flank supporting and defending perfectly.
becks - 6 - quiet
VERON - 9 - MOM ran the most of the game and got forward well, brilliant goal !
Phil - 6 - not much to do defencivly although questions should be asked about the goals no cover at all.
scholes - 8 -he and veron were the heart beat of the team, nice goal, with help for the GK.
Giggs - 6 - quiet never really got going, the game was a little slow for him maybe ?
Forlan - 5.5 - poor, it was a hard task and he proved it although the constant fouling by the greeks didn't help him, should have scored.

Pleased that were through BUT we again showed our lack of ruthlessness and squad depth little penatration into a team who we should have wiped the floor with, should have kept a clean sheet.

You may feel i've been a little harsh but i was really frustrated tonight .... this game seemed to epitimise out season so far .... stuttering with glimpses of brilliance which later on in the CL WON'T be enough i'm afraid or in the league for that matter, when the injuried get back this i hope SHOULD change.

I agree with you there - MOTM, he was very good, but I would give him an 8!

i thought he was supurb ... a bit of a waste of preformance really ..... coz it seemed like he was the only one in top gear (maybe silvestre who really impressed me) if he plays like that with a fit ruud and ole in front of him and butt/keane behind him sombodys in trouble :D

Fab: 6 not at fault for the goals, feck all to do otherwise
Silv: 6
Johnny: 6
Larry: 6
Gary N: 6 defence gets a 6 as they had feck all chance to impress and they were caught off foot for the goals

Giggs: 6 two assists but still passive, never once took on the defence :(
Beckham: 6½ worked hard and like Giggs we looked poorer when he went off
Veron: 8½ classy performance, lacked the keane edge though by not taking responsibility and keeping us concentrated when Giggs and Bex went off
Neville: 6½ did his job without excelling
Scholes:7 some great shots and looke dclass every time he got the ball
Forlan: 6½-7 pity he didnt score but he did well. Ive seen Ruud play worse game sup front on his own. Had 1 chance on target and set up Scholes beautifully for the winner

Chadwick: 5 unimpressed
Fortune: took the game by the scruff of the neck and got involved, showed why keano would pick him first for a 5-aside.

Barthez 6 - nothing to do but for the goals which left him without chance
G Nev 6 - I would have liked for him to play more offensive as they weren't creating anything
O'Shea 6 - did very well for most of the match but went missing for 5 mins and it was 2-2, concentration?
Blanc 6 - see O'Shea
Silvestre 7 - best of the defenders, came forward very much and blocked a shot well late in the first half
Becks 6 - did nothing wrong but nothing special either
P Nev 6 - did what he should for most of the match but must take blame together with Blanc/O'Shea for their goals
Scholes 7.5 - very well as always this season, a few good shots and a good goal
Veron 8.5 - by some distance MOM, the tempo suited him perfect and we got the Veron we wanna see all the time - agree with Murt tho re leadership
Giggs 6 - see Becks
Forlan 5.5 - is not suited as a lone striker, won many free kicks but finished poorly when he got his chance, I'd like to see him in a role he's more suited for

Fortune did well when he came on IMO. Could replace Giggs for the odd match with ease.

Chadwick looks thin.

Richardson ran a lot! Very inspired (of course) but lost the ball easy. It might be too early for him at this level but you can see why he's soo highly rated.

What is the last time you DIDN'T think Veron was MOM?

Barthez 6: nothing to do for most of the time
Gary 6.5: stable
Blanc 7: nice goal taken but may have become too relaxed in the 2nd half.
O'Shea 6: can't stop the goal and look clumsy at times. But it's the first time he got a bad match after so many good performences.
Silverstre 7.5: stable, no fault, help attack well.
Becks 6: very quiet and definitely one of his worst match.
Phil 6.5: do his job quietly
Veron 7.5: excellent performance and work rate, very nicely taken goal. Though give away the ball a bit too much
Scholes 8: Class everywhere. How many times has he been our saviour in this season so far?
Giggs 6: nearly the same as becks
Forlan 6: do nothing at all except the good lay off to help Scholes scored.
Fortune 6.5: not very outstanding, but still did more in 25 min then forlan in the whole match.
Chadwick 5.5

generally a 6.5 for almost all of us. Except for:

JOS 6: Could have done better with the 2 goals lost.

Silvestra 7.5: don't know why he wants to play central defender.. he's not that tall and is very good on the flanks.. since giggs has been pushed to play more in the center Silvestre has been covering for Giggs marvelously.. I sai since last season that if not for RVN great display, Silvestre would have been our best player of the season. He supplied RVN with a lot of opportunities last season.

Scholes 8: Did the magic, looking more comfortable in the hole. Had a lot of oppotunities as Olympiakos were not playing football.

Veron 8: Commendable for his running efforts. Was everywhere.. well taken goal, didn't waste his chances

Forlan 6: still a stick out there.. didn't take his chances.. he certainly looked like he could use some help up there.. 4-4-1-1 with him out front is just not his game.

Overall we looked superb against a dead man walking team.. which is expected.. except for the two goals I think we boosted our confidence a little..

But then we must realize that it's a one off.. no other teams play dead like Olympiakos and the difficult games are just around the corner..

What is the last time you DIDN'T think Veron was shit?

From last night game, i seem veron already know what is his job in United. He done very well in this game.

Of course he did well, who was he up against? He had all the time in the world, all the space, even i'd look good ffs. Take off the rose tinted goggles. We should have hammered them last night, no mercy. Send out a message to the other teams. If SAF is happy with the squad then I think we are going to have more problems. On the other hand a win is a win and we can only beat whats put in front of us but its still frustrating! As you can see I'm a typical Gemini

See my match rating. I rate Veron 7.5 in this match, which is hardly a shit mark for a player isn't it?

Controlling a game away in Europe as well as we did last night deserves more credit than we're getting. The Greeks had plenty to play for, and a new manager to impress. The whole team worked hard when we didnt have the ball and passed it around very well when we did.

OShea 5 - first time I'm seen him look anything less than silky smooth. Some reckless, ill timed tackles.

Veron 9 - MOM. Another Superb European performance, if only he could do that in the Prem. Great goal, nice assist too.

Scholes 8 - looking sharp again, great to see.

Larry 7 - marshalled the defence well, and nice to see him on the score sheet

6's for The rest, with 5's for three subs.

Overall, very pleased :)

Apart from Ruud against Leverkeusen - but only because Ruud was more than human in that game.

How the hell does a multimillion defence with capped internationals get a a 6 for falling asleep and concdeing not one but two sloppy goals.

What warrants a 4 then, not bothering to come out on to the pitch for the second half

Well, that's already a huge improvement! :D

Barthez: Nothing to do in the goals.

Defence: I don't quite get this "run back towards our goal turning our heads sideways to see where that fecker is" marking tactic when someone runs at them. At least one of them should have committed to tackling the man earlier (mainly 2nd goal  ).

Midfield: Controlled the game the way it was probably planned (pass it around and play out the game). Mind you, they were terrible and let us look good on the ball by not putting up a fight or pressing at all.

Attack: Non existent although I wouldn't blame Forlan for it. With that kind of service any striker would struggle. Scholes was superb with his long range shots but I am worried about how we just don't get to break through defences and get the ball in the box to create clear 1-on-1 goal scoring opportunities.

Overall, it was a boring game against dreadful opposition which still managed to make as look idiotic at defending.

The only good points being that we guaranteed qualification and saw the team still managing to score three without Ole or Ruud (particularly Blanc, how long has it been since our defenders chipped in?).

feck, writing this is depressing :(

"he was MOM.. and has been in all the CL games thus far."

Not in the Leverkusen game. Ruud was MOM there by a mile. But he was very good in europe so far this season, though the teams we played so far gave him plenty of time and space. Something he will never have in PL and against europes top teams.
