Barthez 8.5 - Made at least 3 great saves to keep us a clean sheet. Top class tonight
Gary 7.5 - Stable and doing well in defence
Brown 8.5 - pure class. great composure and he seems getting better in every match.
Silverstre 8 - stable and faultless
O'Shea 7 - Keep his standard, though his passing still has a lot of room to improve.
Ole 8 - Once again doing very well in the RM and Becks will find it difficult to get back into the team.
Veron 8.5 - Ran the midfield, excellent work rate and please to see him got into tackles frequently and kept the ball very well.
Phil Neville 7.5 - Keep his standard
Giggs 8.5 - Returned to nearly his brilliant best. Should have scored two goals if not for the post and the opponent's foul. Tore the defence apart nearly every time he received the ball and finally, he even excel on the LB.
Scholes 7.5 - not his best, but still assist the first goal and played well when he returned to the midfield.
Ruud 9 - two goals and great overall performance. MOM.

I don't think Becks will having problem to back into RM position. He's the best ball provider in the world and SAF will play him as first team again when he's fit. Ole is good too in RM role but i like to see him play in front, along side with Ruud so Scholesy can play as AM again.

Exactly.

FFS Ole is a forward.

He stopped Makaay's narrow angle shot from the left, just tipped someone's long shot over the bar, and made a very close save near the end. These saves were very important, because if we let them pulled one back the pressure would be all turn on for us.

Narrow angles! Tipped! That's normal, any decent keeper can deal with that, not exactly a threat. The close save at the end was the best he had to do, and it wasn't difficult for him.

Sometimes I think that it is extreams wth you uranushk1, you slate players when they perform average, praise them when they perform average, praise them way too much when they play well, and want to sell them when they have a bad day. I sometimes never know where I am with you.

In fact Livvie is right, I'm well confused.

Passing the ball to a teammate within the boundary of a field is also a normal thing any decent midfielder can do, but why Veron seems not always capable of that in the past? ;)

Yes Barthez didn't do a lot fantastic saves today, but he can only save the ball that came his way, and his stable and commanding performance still worth the credit.

That's different points of view. When ten people watche the same match they don't have the same opinion on all players. For e.g. I think Giggs was fantastic tonight but no one mentioned him in the MOM thread, which I am also confused of it.

Giggs tonight played better tonight than I have seen in two or three years. Fantastic.

Yes, but when Giggs (and Scholes last season) was knocked by other fans you didn't protect them just as you did against Veron, right? Everyone was baised, and if you said I'm extreme, I can also say the same thing about you in this case.

Overall very good performances from every players. Good performances from veron also, but I think it's very necessary for him to improve his left foot. I only seen him passed the ball with left foot not more than 3 times and a few times he ran with the ball cut off easily by opponents because he didn't control well with his left foot. ;)

Team effort. Great individual contributions from almost everyone, most notably Scholes, Veron, Giggs, OGS and of course, RVN. The defense stood firm as a rock safe for a couple of scary moments. On the whole, wonderful performance.

Of course Ruud will get the plaudits and he's playing with a lot of confidence now, but the centre back pairing of Brown and Silvestre was once again imperious. I don't think SAF can change this at the moment unless he wants to give either one a rest or, god forbid, one of them gets injured. Rio will have to sit on the bench until his turn comes again, which it will of course. He will now know the level of performance and commitment required though. Everyone else played well and it was great to see Giggs again running at defenders. Another great team performance but it's going to be difficult to keep this sort of intensity going week in and week out.

I cant protect them all, all of the time. Verón is a special case, he's been subjected to a witch hunt which he never deserved to be.

made two top class saves... especially the one that he tipped over the bar.. his distribution was very good, once again.... and he looked very sold throughout the game.

he's had a good season, but he's been awesome in his last three matches, some of his saves have been out of this world.

so, weastey, looks like ya fellow spaniard won't get a chance. ;)

Wouldn't it be great if we had some kind of application to help with the ratings... ;)

I still can't come up with the proper name for that trick. "The Veron Special" will do it for me though

True he didn't deserve it, at the time everybody was going after Veron but it was the teams performance not 1 man in 11. Although he has still to prove that he is worth £28 Million.

but did you see the cross of the season he made from the left hand touchline to set up ruudje's disallowed header? the ball was behind his trailing left foot, man  nice  but agreed first time control of a ball and striking a ball are two different skills.
but the cross anyways
