Yes, you are obviously correct: it IS still damn early in the season.

Nevertheless I clearly spot out two players that has stood out from the red crowd on the field.

The first was by many regarded as a disappointment the last season. Many saw him as a dying star. A name of the past. IMO he has spun back into the sweet lime-light. With a mission.

The second is a new addition to the main squad. And he has, in many eyes, replaced a another young player that many thought, and many still think, would bar Rio's dominance in the national team. Our new lad replaced, in other words, Wes Brown.

I am talking abt Giggs and O'Shea folks. So far I think they have shown great stability, high quality displays, and venom in their contributions.

What do you think?

In games he's played, its Scholes, if only he'd not got that injury, I think we'd be top of the table.

OShea without a shadow of doubt. He has been incredible. When he has played in the centre he has dominated.Great ability and vision, and versitility;took to the full back position with ease.Looks like a legend in the making

He's played 2 premiership matches since returning from injury and has turned both matches. I'm not sure where we'd be in the league if he hadn't been injured, but I'm sure we'd have a few more points.

I'd go with O'Shea as being our best player so far. I thought he was outstanding again tonight. He just seemed to be everywhere closing everyone down. I don't think he's had a bad match yet this season...including when he's been played out of position.

O'Shea has been a revelation this season, I wonder what the lad has to do to break into the Ireland team, as international football would only help his game. Is MacCarthy carrying some of his dispute with Keano and Fergie in his selection process. I thought he should even have went to the world cup as a squad player.

It's Scholes for me, with O'Shea came close. O'Shea is not the finished article yet, but he is definitely the best home grown defender I've seen ever. The prospect of him partner with Rio for the next 10 years is mouth-watering.

As for Scholes, he played decently before injury, and he was the best player for us for THREE consecutive matches since he came back. As other fans have said, our situaton in the leauge would be much better now if he hasn't been injured.

Yeah, Phil for the best improvement award, he really has impressed me this season.

O'Shea Scholes both deserve a mention for player of the season. It is a delight to see O'Shea's development into a great defender, and the effort he puts into the game, the performance he produces. He's our future star.

Scholes has played really well since his return to the side, it's almost as if he didn't have that injury. And he scores goals! :D

I thought he should of gone as well. When I saw their squad, I thought to myself, he is from the republic. Isn't he?

Scholesy

the only one who has played close to what we know he is cable of, consistently, in all the games he has played. Scored crucial goals, otherwise had a hand in the others.

Giggs has pulled us up by our pants in 3 games this season and won them on his own.

O'Shea has also shone, (too early to pick for me)

Yes he has been playing very well recently. May be the sign of Ricardo has positive effect on him.

O'Shea has been player of the season so far. All summer aroiund here I was reading a lot of talk about Nesta and Thuram. Well neither of them would have done as well as O'Shea IMO.

As for an Ireland call up I guess he still has to "ptove himself' like Denis Irwin. Either that or request a transfer to Sunderland or Millwall where Prick McCarthy reckons everyone on the books has "proved themselves"

he's from waterford, rep. of i.

DEFFO -ITS O SHEA - HE OOZES CLASS - SIMILAR TO THE LEG P MC grath

It's a choice between John O'Shea and Ryan Giggs

John has been a outstanding, he's settled in so quickly and looks like he could develop into a world class defender.

Ryan hasn't always been at the top of his game but even an 80% giggs is still better than most. His goals have been crucial.

O'Shea for me too. Last night Fergie was quick to single out the defence for praise. O'Shea has been a key part of this every game he has played this season.

O'Shea muscling Hasselbaink off the ball at Stamford Bridge has been one of the highlights of the season for me.

With that one manoevre, a star had arrived :D

You've been watching a different team. He's been good but not that good

Laurent Blanc.

The man is a legend. He may not be the quickest, as we all know, but that aside, he is easily the classiest defender we've had since the Paul McGrath days.

Ferdinand is ok, and O'Shea will become a legend if he keeps playing the way he's playing, and continues to learn from Larry.

Last year's defensive problems were a blip. The year before we had the tightest defence in the league, and this year we will too. Only 'Boro have conceded fewer so far.

Assuming Wesley recovers and gets back into form, we will have four quality centre backs -- three of which will be in the club for the next 5-10 years.

Phill Neville our best and most consistent. i didn't rate him at all a the last season, but a massive improvment and for me our best at the moment should start in front of Gary since he hasn't made an error yet.

could be on drugs though

But he has been excellent this season, as ive allways said hes excellent cover for several positions. Phil has to stay @ OT.
