Translations of Part 1 and 3. The rest should be on the way. I didn't do them myself as I haven't got a clue what they talk about during the whole programme.

Part 1

I would love to one day be the best, more than once,I want to leave my mark in the history of football. This is a blessing from god because its what i love doing.

The magic of Cristiano Ronaldo made him reach to the top of the world. At 22 years of age he is recognised on the whole planet. Now Rnaldo lives surrounded my family with all luxuries. But it wasnt always like this. Life was hard with alot of suffering and ambition he managed to get here.


Funchal 1985 10:20 am. Tuesday 5th february. The youngest of 4 children of Dolores and Diniz Aveiro. After a suprise pregancy. A baby boy of 52cm who would later on be they joy of many people. After Hugo Elma and Catia came the doubt about what the 4th Aveiro baby would be called.
"My sister worked in a crech and at the time i didnt know i was going to have a boy she sayed if its a boy call haim Cristiano and i sayed well I like Ronaldo because of the presisdent. so yes my sister chose Cristiano and I chose ronaldo.
At the time Cristiano's father at the time was Director of Andorinha so beacuse of his closeness to the club he wanted the Captin of the team to be his sons godfather.
"All the games were at the same time 4pm and the baptizm was at 6pm. Diniz and I arrived at the church at 6:30. The priest was paniking. The godmother and mother had to walk around the church until we arrived to calm him down they had to say the godfather was going to give him a tip."

The family lived in the poor outskirts of Fuchal, with not alot Ronaldo soon discoverd that the family's union and humbleness was always present. It was then that Ronaldo found a new freind..The ball.. so it was there right infront of home that it all started. He was very weedy but he made the ball do whatever he wanted it to. It was then that the blessing started. The things he did with the ball atrtcted the attention of everyone.
" He took it every where." " He put it on his knee, on his head everywhere." " he would go around with weights on his feet. He was always doing sit ups and push ups, he loved doing them."
Elma-" he did everything around the ball, he wanted it and then he had the skill to do thngs that he does. We saw he had tallent to play however we never thought he could go this far."

Dolores-" he would arrive home and i would say Ronaldo go to your room and do your homework, he would say he never had any todo. so i would go and cook and he would jump the window and take a yogurt and some fruit and he would run. he would only arrive home around 9-9;30 at night"

"I was always playing football it was what i loved doing whith my friends and that was how i spent my time.The street was up-hill, busses would come and we would take the rocks out of the road, when they;d gone we would put them back and carry on playing."
At 6 years of age he met his first team. Football Andorinha, it was right there near home.
"My cousin was already part of a team.He invited me to go with him to see if i liked it.I saw how it was and started traing,and growing up with that atmosphere."

Ronaldos mum has always had this dream." I would like my son to reach Figos level.I had that faith that he wold be a grate palyer but i never thought it would be this quick.
The fame of Cristiano ronaldo started going round from mouth to mouth in Madeira.
Catia-" when they thought he was on the right he would be on the left. so people used to talk alot about him people that knew about football. so that made us belive that he did have tallent."

That fame of ronaldo quickly got to his godfathers ears who at the time was had tranferd from andorinha to national. He desided to go and see if what was said was true he was suprised when he saw ronalo play.

Imedeatly he desided to take ronaldo to national. It had better conditions and was better for him to grow. It was 1995 ronaldo was 10 and on his 1st season he was champion.
"I remeber him dribbling from one side of the pitch to the next and scoring." it was on his school pitch that he played still in sand. " he had motivation and he wanted to play, thats all that matterd.
" I played with older people, that helped me grow and improve".

"I remeber him helping a boy out and we would tease him and say. You dont know anything how can you help him ? but he did he tried his best to help. I think hes a true friend."

Leonel and Paulo became not only coaches but friends and parents. He had to mature and fast, his chilhood whent by very fast. But he forgot his lonlyness ad consentrated on his desire to be the best. He was the best at any sport and thats the thing about him he was very determinated on what he wanted to do.His team always had to win. He was always on top form, always.
In madeira the family where up-todate but mother doloers sufferd alot.

Being a footballer he fought to have a strong physique, he worked without limits." we cought him in the gym without permition at 1am because he wanted to do better.

Eventhough they had a contract with sporting the family worked hard to give him some finacial help.
Dolores-" At the time the money wouldnt go very far, and he saw his friends with branded clothing, trainers and he wanted some too.
Catia-" He asked me to get him some Allstars and i sent him some and put a note inside them and he was so happy."
"he often said he would get there and achive his dreams, he said our mother would never work again that was one thing he made sure of."
" Maruka, we were having truble in finding him somewhere to stay so Ronaldo offerd his bed for them to share. as long as he could stay thats all ronaldo wanted."

When he started earining more he tolled his mother not to work again because she didnt need to.
"The first thing i did was tell my mum she didnt need to work anymore because she had alredy done too much, she worked hard all her life for the family and i know she had dificulties. I tried to help my brother and sisters because if you dont help your own who eles do you help? if my family arent well i worry i dont feel right nd normal with myself."

Elma-"ronaldo was everyhting to him, he was everything to ronaldo and then ronaldo did everything he could to help my father but i saw that everything he was doing didnt help, money wasnt worth anything, He said why do i have so much money, if i have it you go and have fun, live to the max because thats just the way life is."
Ronaldo was in rusia, the flowing day he would play, Scolari was notified and it fitted him to break the news to Ronaldo.

scolari-" I could realte to what was happeing to ronaldo with the death of my own father, because of this we had a long chat, he was calm and we shred this pain. i asked him if hewas going to paly and he sayed yes. Thats the strong team spirit and his own strength."

ok this ones the bad one because you cant hear what theyr saying. So ill start with mourinho even though its mostly already in the other part.

When Nuno says golo its because they were watching braga v Porto. they wanted braga to win because if porto lost sporting would have a better chance at the title.
when hes on the net he is on www.ojogo.pt (portuguese sports paper website). He was looking at the sore and says that Braga lost 3-2.He then looks for the chelsea score " Chelsea scored a penalty".
what they all say when theyr around he pc is like making fun out of someone with a brazilian acsent. it doesnt make musch sence because who ever is doing it is rubbish.

Dolores:"He was very skinny and I would tell my husband,if he playes with older boys they could stand on his shin and break his leg. He would reply, no because he can run fast so he runs from the they cant get him."
At the age of 11 everyone was baffeld,Cristiano ronaldo was fenominum in Maderira and because of his play he got his fisrt nick name.
Dolores:" when he passed the ball and his friend didn't score he would cry,he got wound up very easily, they would call him cry baby and bee because no one could stop him on the pitch."

National was soon not enough for all his tallent, Godfather Fernao desided that the continet was better of his tallent.He soon came up with a stratigy, National were in debt with sporting, he would send them Cristiano and the debt would be paid off.
Marques Freitas was selected to seal the deal with sporting.
"We got him a ticket and took him to lisbon"

Dolores:"At the time Benfica wanted him aswell,but i said if he goes , he goes to sporting i dont want him in benfica. Because its my club! so i said to them hes going to be champion with sporting later on."

It was 1997, Ronaldo had just turned 12 and it was desided that on his easter holiday he would go to sporting for a trial.

"I was confident,I though im doing trials at sporting wow how cool? I remeber that i didnt even sleep properly on the night before i went becasue it was going to be my first time on a plane. So I whent with my mum, very nervous, very small very skinny. It was a good very good experiance. I was confident that i could do it when I got there that i would give it my best and that i would get in."

He convinsed everyone.

Poulo Cardoso:" the trainig session was just a game, and at the very start the ball comes to his feet and he gets the ball and dodges 3 lads. I looked at the others and we all knew there was something special in him. After the match all the paper work was done and we knew we wanted him.

Aurelio:" It was down to me and Paulo to do the report and concince the admin. that he was worth while."

Simoes de Almeida:"I thought it was a bit strange having to pay for an 12 year old but because i was assured that he was woth it and he would turn out to be a brilliant player well..."
Ayrelio:"Sporting have never payed soo much or anything like what they paid for him."

It was the reports and the note that made it sertain that he would go back to sporting.
Although it seems much to pay for such a young boy, He has big tallent and he will be a very good investment. He showed high quality in the tests inspected by the couches.

So it was desided that Cristiano Ronaldo would go back to the continent in the new season.
August came and so did the time to say goodbye to maderia, his family and freinds.

"I remember saying bye to my sisters, my mum, it was very sad they were all crying but thats the way it had to be. Me too when i was in the plane when it took off i saw the image or them all and started to cry. But its a normal thing, I grow up with them and then i wouldnt say abandon but leave them for a while. Thoses were very hard times."

A new life was about to start for Cristiano in the academy, living with all the other lads would be something very new for him.

"When i got to lisbon, it was like a new language, I spoke Maderirense... I still do sometimes with my family. i arrived with that accent ( notice he doesnt say it in portuguese? he says it in english) even the people, the stress, it was all completely different. I remember that they where very hard times,living with people i didnt know, 20 odd athelites all older than me, I was the youngest, me and my friend Fabio. The first few months i would always cry me and my friend. i would phone home about 2/3 times a week, we would buy those cards worth 50 units and i would stand there talking to my family and seeing them going down and time running out. They are moments that I remeber as if they were yesterday and they were very hard. I would cry almost everyday, but along time i realised that I had my team mates backing along with all the coaches and things got better."

Sporting didnt just offer football, it was also about discipline, incharge of Ronaldo was Leonel. Not only in football but also at school.

"He was an intelligent kid, he just didnt like to work and to study. He was so determind with football, he liked it soo much that school was just a pass time.He had more difficulties with english at the time."

"That swap to the continent ( he says it in the maderian accent) changed everything. Football, friends,im not justifying it its just that when you have all that to think about, you dont worry about the rest so much. I would like to do 12th grade (year 11) because its an ambition that I have. English....well... I did go sometimes i bunked off but i did go. I didnt pay any attention and i would always copy in testes. It was always a subject that i wrongly thought i was never going to need."

"Yea i do, and now when i speak to younger kids i tell them to go as far as they can."
 
Part 7!!

On match days the family always go to the stadium,his mum is always emothinal.

Dolores:"I sufffer, when he does penalties i never watch,I always move away from the seat, i remember his game at sporting when he scored three goals, i fainted at Alvalade."

Hugo:"I feel very proud,I go estatic everytime he scores !"

when he playes away, family and friends get together to watch matches, A barbique the maderian way and everyone ready to wath him shine. He soon got offered to do publicity, in the offices of Gestifute we finde out the stratigy,

Luis:"We bleive that very soon he will be one of those players that everyone in the world will know of."

Today ronaldo is a face in America, China and even Japan. Ronaldo's image goes to everything that could be a success, even a game for mobile phones was made with his image. Young and good looking Ronaldo was also picked my fashion mags. American Vouge desided to show him off the pitch. Even in photo setions Ronaldo cant be without a ball. He even infulenses who evers with him.

" If i want to go out this friday i cant because i have a game on Saterday, we have to administrate our lives. In this case we go out when we can, if i have a game saterday and the day off sunday i go out without a problem,I can go out for a meal, go to a bar. In the week of contract renovation he walways had his agent near by. At home another tennis match with Ronaldo obviously always winning.
Lots of messing around, laughing and chilling, but when a ball enters the qourt. Magic happens.

Friend Manuel fernando is a guest at the house. Whilst in friends a little barbique. Ronaldo was about to turn into one of thw worlds best paid players, for someone who has worked hard thier whole life to be somebody, this is a very happy occasion. Always helping the family, living in comfort now that he can buy everything hes every dreamed of.

"Finacially im an independent person of cours for me that was one of the most important things. I have cars that ive always dreamed of having, cars that ever since i was young ive dreamed of and i didnt have money to buy them. Now i can so why should i not have them? I can like a ring, bracelet or a necless but im not obsessed with them. I think i go about 4/5 months without buying new jewellery."

Every week Ronaldo gets about 2000 letters. Cousin Nuno and friend Rogerio are in charge of opening every single one.

Rogerio;" The girls send lots of wedding rings. Now with photo shop they send photos with them as brides with him standing next to them. Its very cool some after noons we spend them looking at them all and ronaldo aswell sometimes, of cours he makes sur to send a personallised autpgraph to everyone, but its fun, we have grate laughs here, its very good."

Nuno:" Im shocked at the range of countries they come from, Jamaica, Thiland, Brazil, its impressing."

The story of Ronaldo's life is exampler for childrean allover the world. Its worth dreaming and believing you can achive your goals. It all started in Andorinha were all the children wish to be Ronaldo's.
In madeira in his neighbourhood its the same, they all want to be the same as Ronaldo.

"I would like to be like Ronaldo" Do you train for that? " Yes at Andorinha." Do you think you look like him like that? " Eh no but i dunno its just so I can have his style.
Boy with diamond studs:
"I saw Ronaldo wearing them, I like it and had them done. Two, always, everything like Ronaldo."

Mother Dolores looks to the future of her little boy and she has a feeling.
"He could be a big manager like mourinho. I think so, a mothers never wrong about her children."
Do you see him being a good father?
"Oh yes ofcours, I think so, I think he will be an exellent father, he will be a very proud father aswell."

God gave him a blessing that left behind many tears and only with the dream and ambition of a little boy made it come true. From the small neibourhood in falcao to the top of the world, Ronaldo has made it.
