Perfect opportunity against a good side to push for a start in the first team especially now with Bailly out,Blind looking poor at LB

Unchanged line up v Arsenal: Johnstone, Williams, Poole, Tuanzebe, Riley, Harrop, Willock, Redmond, El Fitouri, Olosunde, McTominay

#AFCU23 to play @ManUtd: Keto, Johnson, Da Graca, Pileas, Dasilva, Bennacer, McGuane, Dragomir, Hinds, Mourgos, Nketiah

No Hamilton last two games. Anyone know why he was becoming an important player at this level.

Happy for Demi, shame it had to be for Scott. Hope it's not too bad

Not a quality game so far. We've lacked a killer ball in the final third but Olusunde should have made it 2; couldn't dig the ball out from under his feet when through.

Williams and Tuanzebe have looked class but really had no pressure on them from Arsenal

Good half from Mitchell. Olosunde should've made it 2. Quinton is making some good points in commentary - the side just needs to be more aggressive because they can cut this arsenal side open from the looks of things.

Actually don't think El-Fitouri has been that bad, tonight or recently. Shouldn't even be at the club though to be honest.

Brilliant football at times - but the finishing has been awful.

You get the feeling Riley will be involved in any second goal for us

He possesses a more natural attacking instinct than Shaw does, while boasting a similar engine.

I wish we'd consider him for the first team at some point this season.

Yeah it's true, helps that he used to be a winger. Would like to see him at right back long term but he's doing well on the left and deserves another chance with the first team for sure. Jose's had him in training already so he'll probably know whether he's in his future plans or not already.

I have to say im a bit surprised how well Fitouri is playing in midfield, he is still poor but much better then in other positions....

Harrop and Riley had a great game.

Harrop did have a good game, but he's a bit too much like an Arsenal player. In that he's neat and tidy on the ball, but lack end product at times. Like when he put his free kick straight into the wall and shot straight at the keeper instead of placing it into the corner.

Tuanzebe and Olosunde did well also.

Disappointing that Mitchell can't get 90 minutes. Didn't look to be showing signs of fatigue and if Joyce had a problem with him he'd 'Doughty' him so I have no idea what that's about, he was playing well.

Yeah that was quite annoying. Tuanzebe just needs to be a first team player already, I'm bored of saying it. Poole doesn't look as fluid as Axel but was just as effective today and looks better all the time. Riley was the standout yet again though. If Axel and Joe don't get promoted this season then this has to at least be their last full season at this level.

Riley must be - in terms of offensive abilities only - the best fullback at the club. Gonna be a valuable asset for someone.

Harrop's end product has never been his strength and I feel it's gonna be the factor that stop him to reach to a high level.

Williams had some good moments going forward but switched off a bit defensively.

Slightly disappointed not to see Buffonge coming on even though he did warm up.

I thought so in the first half but then he gave the ball away criminally in couple of occasions in the second half. Must be annoying for the likes of Kehinde or Buffonge watching that calibre of player playing ahead of them.

Funnily given how much stick El-Fitouri got on here at least he got into the team and contributed whereby Doughty couldn't make the bench ahead of 16-17 year olds.

Yeah it's very true.

Yeah, after i posted this i think he lost 5 possessions in a row:lol: Mind you, he is still a very poor player in midfield but still much better then on fullback/wing position where he was always the worst player on the pitch, yesterday he wasnt.
And i agree, how is he playing ahead of Kehinde(offers everything what Fitouri offers(on higher level as well) + more) is mind boggling....

Who was worse than El-Fitouri yesterday?

Redmond for me. Although he's not as obviously poor, he lets games bypass him consistently, at least El-Fitouri made/makes his presence known. He struggled with the things he's supposed to excel in - keeping possession and winning the ball back. Can be a frustrating player.

Have to completely disagree, I don't how you can say Redmond let the game pass him by but El-Fitouri was making his presence known. He had to have had the least touches on the ball by far. Redmond was consistently higher up the pitch in possession and deeper in the field when out of possession. The numerous good passing plays we had up top and El-Fitouri wasn't involved in a single one of them while Redmond was in quite a few. The defence always looked for Redmond instead of El-Fitouri, when an attack faltered it almost always back to Redmond too. I watched closely in the second half for it and I can't say Harrop ever passed the ball to El-Fitouri and he had plenty of chances too but always chose a different option after looking right at him. Quinton Fortune even called him out on never passing the ball forward. He was even fecking up some of his back passes. His defensive game is sloppy as feck, he made about 5 fouls and could have been called on a couple others which advantage was given for. By the end of the game he was hardly even running which is about all he does. We'd turn over possession and Redmond would cover twice the ground to get back while El-Fitouri slowly jogged around looking clueless.

Willock for me. Trying too hard to impress against his former club and he achieved the opposite. The whole game he was forcing things and losing possession, ignoring better options while going for glory.

Quite sure he didn't but apart from that, I think my opinion is more of a build up of games for Redmond than just this one but I stand by what I said about him letting the game pass him by. The defence look for Redmond because he always goes the deepest of the midfielders to collect it. Quinton actually said he liked that he was passing forward this game as he's watched him before and he usually plays it safe. Redmond is tidy on the ball but doesn't do enough with it, whether in advanced or deeper positions, he was actually sloppier than he usually is as well and the only time I remember him winning the ball was when he got it back after losing it himself cheaply. He's beginning to remind me of his Under-18s days again but not quite as ineffective.
