Very good defense, attack not great as always but will be good to see how Gribbin does.

Bloody hell, 9/11 are natural midfielders. Never seen a more disjointed team.

Shame for Gribbin that he had to be the one to make way

And Olosunde too I thought?

Was just about to say we could've done with Mitchell upfront in a situation like this but it's ok just get him on the ball in the final third and he provides! Great play and a cool finish from Goss. Good effort from the lads, far from over though.

Wasn't our reserve team champs last year? Why are we so bad this year? Losing Joyce?
Losing players like Andreas, James Weir, Will Keane, Adnan, TFM, Powell, Varela, CBJ etc. Someone like Powell only played 3 matches but he scored 3 goals making a significant impact even in his limited time. We have no one making those significant impacts this season. In many matches Josh Harrop looks like the only one capable of making an impact and scoring is hardly a strong point to his game. The next top scorer is McTominay with 2 and after that a few with 1. There is no actual striker in the team. A lot of the older and better players have moved on and not been replaced by much quality from the incoming year. Once the u18s start to be promoted the team should improve again although even they lack a proper striker.

Isn't Gribbin the rated striker? Or did he just move up?

I miss the old (and I mean old) reserves which wasn't just u23 but those squad players not in the first team too. Even worse when players like TFM don't play anywhere at all.

Gribbin's more of a playmaker/attacking Mid rather than a striker. Doesn't really have the physicality to lead the line, which is why we've been using McTominay up front at times even though he's a midfielder

Should have played Memphis up front all season - or is he too old now?

I don't think Jose values the experience provided by PL2 football, and i tend to agree with that. I think there's a huge gap in the level of football between reserves and even Championship/L1 football.

And once a player is past a certain level, all it does is provided inflated stats as they just dominate at this stage. It's like sending Memphis on loan to a League 2 club, he will excel at that level but it will not help him at all.

As mentioned Gribbin isn't a striker he is a playmaking attacking midfielder. He has also been injured most of the season and is just being promoted as well, still being eligible for the u18s. The strikers in the u18s are Bohui and Burkhart who are both new signings and settling into the club still. Burkhart probably the more potential but he is only a first year scholar new to the country, neither really ready for the u23s.
