1-0 Gribbin freekick. Great shot though poor goalkeeping.

Don't think I've seen a United player at this level be able to cross so well as consistently as Mitchell, not even CBJ. Good run to win the free kick for Gribbin's goal too. Got all the makings of a potentially top full back.

Still early in the game but Mctominay's done well in midfield so far.

Not a regular watching the reserves but wasn't Mitchell a winger/forward? I know he's had a lot of injuries but how come he's a full back now?

Yeah he was, at first it was really to fill the gap left by CBJ and then Riley and he wasn't really starting many matches but now I think he'll stay there as he's looked really comfortable there. He's said that he likes it there so I don't see him going back up the pitch at the moment although he's still fully capable of playing there.

Originally a winger but due to the lack of a striker he was being moulded into there but of late has been switched to LB. Staff obviously just feel he has potential there and its his best chance of making it at the top level.

Wouldn't mind seeing Buffonge and Hamilton in for two of Redmond, McTominay or Willock.

Wasnt Mason Bennett very highly rated at one point? Like 5/6 years ago.

Agreed. Even Whealen to make it a triple.

I don't get why Kehinde is wide left and Harrop central. Shouldn't it be the other way round?

Yeah it should be. They've loved to shove Kehinde out wide ever since he stepped up to the Reserves which is an absolute waste of him in my opinion.

4-1 Derby. Worst United U23/1 team I remember for many years.

Bored of hearing the whole 'no natural striker' excuse. That only affects you so much. Defensively awful, midfield non existent and no character on display tonight.

Olosunde's been poor but he done well there to set up Redmond. Second time now that Warren has come on and been quite bad tbh, rate the lad but he needs to do better. Scott going off hurt the side too, considering Axel's had a bit of an off day, Scott was the one getting in the crucial challenges and blocks when they were under pressure.

Nice bit of play from Gribbin and good finish from Kehinde. Sloppy give aways in our half and non-existent defensive pressure threw the game away though.

The one thing Joyce guaranteed was discipline.

We need to write off this U23 campaign and keep blooding the more developed U18 players.

Gribbin and Kehinde are getting good experience and seeing what the ugly side of being a footballer is like.

Ya that's the guy. He was playing for their first team at 15. He randomly came into my head only last week so I googled him to see what had happened to him since. He's had a few injuries that have held him back. He hasn't kicked on at all since he came on the scene. He was very big for a 15 year old so I can't help but think the fact he was so physically developed at a young age had a lot to do with why he got his chance so young rather than his talent.

Second Half

3-1 Elsnik again

4-1 Gordon

5-1 Jakobsen

5-2 Redmond

5-3 Kehinde
