Reports that the current Liverpool Chairman is determined to see PL matches played in the USA.

“I even have the sort of crazy idea that there would be a day where we play one game in Tokyo, one game a few hours later in Los Angeles, one game a few hours later in Rio, one game a few hours later in Riyadh and make it sort of a day where football, where the Premier League, is celebrated.”

This seems like a horrible idea. Is this just one bored business man spouting off or do you think it'll eventually happen?

No. Never. Sod off.

But if City win their case against the PL then it'll be a free for all. Anything goes when the integrity is officially gone. We can only hope it goes the other way.

Easily shut this down by pointing out the environmental impact of such an endeavour.

I just love how these billionaire owners never can help themselves to show how out of touch they are. Not even a hint of subtlety just straight out megalomaniac nonsense.

A lot of people who stand to make a lot of money would do anything to make this happen but the sheer shitstorm it will create surely means it’ll never happen

football is different, whereas the NFL seems it’s quite accepted? Although I’m not sure how home fans feel about that. Then again I recall a college American football match in Dublin a couple of years ago and the amount of Americans who travelled over for that was impressive

Would it be accepted if they did the charity shield or maybe even the league cup final abroad?

I remember this being floated massively in 2009. Maybe even further back. Never seems to happen but keeps getting brought up. It’s a stupid idea.

He can feck off. Another thing that would ruin the integrity of the competition.

It will happen after City get away with cheating and the Premier League becomes a travelling circus.

Yeah the only way I could see the public being okay with it.

The travel time for league games would create an unfavourable situation for competitiveness.

Yeah, most people here in the US seemed to hate the 1 London game per year at first but now most everyone is fine with it. In fact, many people I know love the European games because you get to watch NFL games at like 9 in the morning.

Now we‘ll have NFL games 3 non-US countries this coming season.

The second games are played outside the UK it stops being the PL. Its an international competition then.

It’ll happen, of course it will. Anything that can make them more money will be done. Just a matter of when

That match happens every year in Dublin

Get tae feck pal. It's already hard enough for fans to go and watch their side in their own city or country let alone making it a match across the world.

The PL can take little things from the American sports avenue in some ways but this isn't one of them.

Didn't they float this idea about 10 years ago - and called it the 39th game?

Already happened with La Liga and Serie A, the community shield equivalent being played in Saudi Arabia.

It'll happen with the PL within the next 5 years I'd imagine.

Charity shield would be fine or replacing that with an all star game or something over in the US because nobody really cares about it. A league game though would just be a no.

Now the FA have officially finished paying off Wembley there is no reason for the Community Shield to still be played there so maybe they'll try to move that or even the FA Cup Semi Finals.

Yes this is a great idea. One overseas match for each club a season would be great. With the amount of money the world brings to the PL including the players the world brings to the league, the PL owes it to the world.

It’s gonna happen. The NFL does it and the PL will follow suit. They like using the NFLs ideas just like when the PL was formed.

It doesn't really make much sense.

It works for the NFL because that is basically the only top league for that sport. So fans anywhere in the world only support those teams and watch that league. It doesn't matter which teams are playing, watching live is an experience.

The way their whole league is structured is different too, they're franchises, they can just up and move cities pretty much, so home is never really home (obviously you get teams which always stay where they are).

Can't see anyone abroad being excited to watch west ham Vs Everton, when they can likely watch their own pro top league that weekend (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal... In fact every European country has their own top league just about).

I suggest the world finds there own teams to watch and leave ours in our own country

The protests should be on the scale of the ESL, if not bigger.

Yes compared to premier league matches.

I'm actually surprised Charity/Community shield hasn't been moved yet given premier league clubs involved are usually on their tours and seem to be miffed they have to cut short and fly back to play in the fixture so might aswell play it in America or Asia.

I know Boehly got savaged for the suggestion but I do think there's merit in that suggestion he had of having an all star prem game instead at Wembley at similar point in the season to raise funds for a cause or just donate to charity instead. That could fill the domestic gap as curtain raiser to the new season.

The one thing you have to have in a league is home and away games against all rivals.

You can't mess with that. Who loses a home game etc.

Then you had in the supposed staying green stuff.
