Gerard Piqué's Spain booked their place in Saturday's European U19 Championship final with a 5-0 hammering of Austria on Wednesday.

The United defender turned in another solid performance as the Spaniards notched their first clean sheet of the tournament.

Piqué was heavily involved in the first goal of the afternoon, carrying the ball from defence before finding Juan Mata, whose pass gave Jeffrén Suarez the chance to drill home.

Further strikes from Javi Garcia (2), Mata and Alberto Bueno sealed Spain's passage to Saturday's final in Poland.

There they will face Archie Gemmil's Scotland, who overcame the Czech Republic by a single goal on Wednesday night.

The two finalists have already met once in this year's competition, a 4-0 win for Spain in which Piqué scored twice.'

I've only read one other report about his performance at these Championships and he seems to be having an impact. Scoring goals too!

Good luck to Piqué and Spain in the finals this coming Saturday (apologises, United interests outweigh nationalistic interests).
