Pineapple Express

Looks like another good piece of comedy written by Seth Rogen. He's probably one of the most talented comedy writers in the business at the moment, cool as feck.

Doesn't look too bad.

I dig the song that features in the trailer.

He certainly is en fuego

And I enjoy that, I rate him highly. His movies have no deeper meaning obviously but I don't require that when it comes to comedies, a good laugh is all I need. I though Superbad was brilliant (especially the McLovin parts).

I remember a short TV series with him, Franco and Segel. They were all young at that time and all of them went on to have very good careers (two are highly-rated comedy writers and the other one has stared in some good movies). I think it was called Freaks and Geeks.

That's James Franco, who plays Saul in this movie. I had to do a double-take when I saw his name, couldnt believe he could play a pot dealer..

oh, and cesc's, the song is called M.I.A. - Paper Planes

Saul: I just got a shipment of Pineapple Express, the dopest dope I've ever smoked. Smellll it. It's like... God's vagina.

Saul: [standing with Denton on the side of a road with his thumb sticking out of his fly] Hey, look. It's like my thumb is a cock.
Dale Denton: That's not gonna get us a ride, man.

:lol::lol:

Another great show not given enough time.

Yep, he has usually stared in more serious movies although he's a very funny guy and will cope well with this part.

The song is mint.

Aye, although it was on a low budget. They used it as a stepping stone to better careers. There was also Rashida Jones playing some part, he's currently on the US Office (probably the funniest TV show around).

Also cheers for the heads up with the tune lads. I dig.

I remember their 'Bucky Done Gun' tune, there was a remix going around a few years ago that got bashed at all our clubs down here. Goog times.

MIA rules, and I love the sample from Straight to Hell, which is one of my favourite Clash songs.

Yeah, unique style.

Like I said just up there before the Bucky Done Gun remix got a right bashing in our clubs. 'Get cracking get get cracking.'

How can you know that it is going to be the comedy of 2008 when you haven't seen it yet?

Especially since Superbad was the least funny "comedy" of last year and Knocked Up was deeply ordinary?

Superbad wasn't the least funny comedy of last year in my view. I thought it was pretty funny, although McLovin probably saved that movie rather than anything else. It was also written by a 13-year old.

Knocked Up wasn't very bad either although I expected more.

Hot Rod was probably the worst comedy of last year, if not the worst comedy ever. It was amazingly bad.

I didn't laugh once in Superbad. Even the bits that seemed amusing in the trailer were painful in the film itself. It doesn't surprise me at all that a 13 year old wrote it since it was obviously designed for 13 year olds who think that the height of comedy is whispering a naught word and then giggling about it at length.

Knocked Up was mildly amusing but utterly forgetable.

I didn't see HotRod. Taladega Nights was possibly the worst alleged comedy of recent years. Was it as bad as that?

It was shit, but come on Superbad was hilarious. How could you not laugh when McLovin gets punched in the face or when the cop is driving the car wasted and crashes. Seth Rogan's character: "Usually he isnt this wasted when he does."

I laughed a few times while watching Superbad. It wasn't a very good comedy with a plot that would make slightest sense and be original in some way but I didn't feel that bad while watching it.

Hot Rod is about the same category as Taladega Nights. Absolutely ridiculous movie, pointless production, should have never been out.

While we are at bad movies, I turned on Comcast today to see what's free in their movies offer. Watched the entire Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 and most of Bloody Murder. Two of the worst horrors ever, but can do the job as comedies when you watch them with someone who doesn't mind commenting on movies. Seriously, those two were probably as good as any two comedies released!

Never said that it was going to be 'The Comedy of 2008'. That was the thread starter. The trailers look more than promising. Haven't seen a genuinely funny movie in a long time.

I didn't say that you did.

Agreed about the dirth of good comedy. In Bruge has quite a few great lines but I struggle to think of something really funny since .............

'Burn after Reading', the latest from the Coen brothers, also looks great from the trailers. Its not a comedy per se, but it looks like it has that Coen brand of subtle twisted humor, in the vein of Fargo. Seen the promos anyone ?

"Smell it. Its like...Its like God's vagina"

Some of the stuff in the movie is genius, its nothing like the press are saying, its pure slapstick fun, with a few weed jokes put in for good measure...

my cousin plays his girlfriends father in that movie! my claim to fame!

A bloke I know on the cafe's cousin plays his girlfriends father in that movie! my claim to fame!

Loved the movie. You should also see Freeks and Geeks, Franco and Rogen at their dopey bests.

Anybody else think that James Franco is looking spookily like Heath Ledger in this movie?
