He's linked to Boro (surprise surprise) on planetbollox today.

I think he could be off this summer.

I dismiss most speculation Davo, I just report it first ;)

I know how people like a good rumour to really get stuck into a thread.

Cept AEBM, who will happily spend the entire day in a thread as long as it's titled something like "Your players, how good are they really?"

or anythread with the word

"Liverpool"

in the title...

;)

Yep, fair enough. You're quite right.

We won't miss him, and he could do with the regular football. Personally I'd take £4M for Phil, any more is a bonus.

Heck, I can't believe I am sort of agreeing with you - twice! ;)

Well it's not like he deserves a boot but still no great loss to MU.

5 million will do me fine.

Great. I love him but that is a far price for him since it can get us an even better replacement.

Yeah, it would be a really good idea to sell Phil

Especially as Iriwn is leaving, because then we could play, eh, no one as left back if Silvestre is out..

Anyone that wants to off load Phil for £4-5 million is crazy. Who are United gonna buy to replace him for that?

He's the epitomy of a 'squad player' he can play left back, right back and any position in midfield; none of them brilliantly mind, but, he can play them sufficiently well. He also has Ole's attitude so far as he doesn't bitch and moan about playing every week.

Phil's a RED, just coz he ain't tanned or in the papers every week you wanna get rid!

'kin Chelsea fans

Players like Phil, Butt and Ole are crucial. Besides, I thought with Denis leaving, Phil would be looking forward to next year ?

Some a bit more crucial than others tho.

We may get 3-4 million, which is nothing for us, but lost a loyal player who understand the playing style of the team and can come in handy when there is injury crisis. Therefore, I can't see the point to sell him, except if the player himself ask to leave.

Ordinary he may be..but he will do his best if given the opportunity. As TTR have mentioned, he's a "squad" player

And United have just given him a new 4 year contract!
Get real! :)

Pat, I think Andy Cole signed a new contract at the end of last season as well?

It was Andy's decision to leave - he didn't wanna be a squad player.

As someone else pointed out, the only way Phil will leave is if he wants out himself.

I was pointing out that signing a contract means nowt.

OK, now they're saying £20m for Phil & Gary ... Now that, I would take!

Where do these stories come from anyway? Amazing imagination the British press have <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />
