Neville replaces his brother and Manchester United team-mate Gary, who pulled a thigh muscle in training last Thursday.

On of Englands top 10 or 15 defenders obviously, congratulations Phil :D

As if Sven is going to bring in Phil if he is not good enough! Onya Phil - a True Undying Red Devil along with your brother Gary.

Those who slag off Phil (as opposed to contructively criticise) would do well to read Sir Alex`s autobiography. In it somewhere he says that although he, Alex, was not the most skilful (or whatever words he used) player and not the best, he always THOUGHT he could be the best and he does not understand players who don`t think that way.

For me, that summarises why Phil Neville is still rated by Sir Alex. He has the hunger and the desire to be the best - even if he is not and will never be.

The fact that Phil Nev is 1,000 percent committed to this club and cares about it and its fans, as well as being a versatile player who has suffered from being used in a `jack of all trades, master of none` way for a long time yet is still a loyal Red Devil says it all for me.

The fact that Fergie never made it past the Scottish league, and was held responsible for a cup final defeat to arch rivals Celtic by his own teamates which was instrumental in his leaving the club- aah sure we'll keep quiet there!

You`re missing the point. Where did I say Sir Alex was a great player? I am simply pointing out that one of the reasons he has a lot of time for Phil Neville is because of Phil`s desire to play for Manchester United and be the best - although we all know he will never be the best.

Sir Alex admitted he was not the best but his point was he always thought he could be the best -and he doesn`t understand players who don`t think that way. In other words, players who don`t have the drive and hunger.

I think you must be replying to a different message......
