As far as I'm concerned, Peter Taylor is a COACH first and foremost, and a very, very good one at that. I've heard too many people in the know say that, for me to doubt it one second.
To emphasize my point:
"It's a big shock to me and I'm sure it will be a big shock to the other lads as well," said captain Paul Rogers. "He's done really well here. Since he came in the lads took to him straight away.
"He is a good coach," Rogers added. "His sessions were a lot more technical than we were used to and he's improved some of the players during his time at the club." (Taken from today's Guardian)
You can talk all day, but the fact remains: United have been missing the steadying influence of a top notch hands-on coach ever since McLaren left. And it would be a fantastic boost to get Taylor to relieve Fergie of that task!!
